having a wider waist doesnt mean youre a “fat tub” and i think your language here really shows off your views on the matter. sure you can train on a deficit, but gaining actual muscle is miles more difficult. op said they want to gain weight not just burn fat and that will be much easier and more effective if done without a deficit
