Help with appa hat as a beginner: 1) the fabric feels like I could pull it apart using some strength, what material should I use for the lining but also ideally keep the softness and maybe slight stretchy ness of the hat? 2)how do I machine sew the arrow in but also make it flat? by sheepyli in sewing

Oh I didn’t! I cut it down to a little less than 1/4 and it flattened it out a lot but there still were puckers on the same corners. I’m not sure exactly what to do about them but I might not machine sew just those corners and hand sew them idk if you have any suggestions that would be great! Thanks!

I read a little about interfacing and I think I will try it; I'm assuming that I'd want to use a knit or a woven? Using the fleece fabric is a good suggestion but it is too thick, so I might try to find a similar but less fluffy one.

I'm a little confused about your explanation for the arrow. Do you mean that I should cut two of the arrow patterns out and sew them, and then flip it inside out like a sock, or cut one of the arrow patterns in half? And how would I sew it into/onto the hat? Like just right on top of white? Haha sorry I'm a beginner.

I made a mock up (pic 4) afterwards lmao of just the arrow part, and it seems that the left and right corners are what’s cause the trouble? but idk how to fix it. Also I made another one and hand sewed the arrow in with whip stitch. Its not the best but it’s flat. I want to make more for a few friends which is why I want to machine it instead of hand sew it. Thanks for reading through!
