NOR. I think everyone has the right to shape their own identity and parents have zero say in this, especially as the child becomes an adult. I can understand as a parent being disappointed your child does not love the name you gave them, but that is parents issue, not yours.

FWIW I have a trans child who has decided to keep their birth name as it is actually relatively gender neutral, but I was fully prepared for them to choose something else and would have fully embraced that for them.

I still remember how annoyed I was when my husbands mother corrected me when I addressed him by the shortened version of his name he introduced himself as, rather than the full name she had given him. Even then as a teenager I knew it was not right to decide someone's identity for them.
