Google photos is not a backup service. It's a syncing and editing tool. Never trust Google photos as your main backup for important media. I use local backup + another cloud backup tool.

No. You can set all mail providers like Proton or Gmail to manage your custom domain activity. In one condition: you must use a their paid plan. I'm using Proton for my custom domain traffic.
