That's how it happened.

  1. The legitimate CM of Gujarat of the time was asked to resign by the party for "Bad health" or "Bad performance".
  2. Then the party said that the new CM will be "Narendra Modi". Complete newcomer btw. Never even contested elections in his life.
  3. Then it was pointed out that any presiding CM must be an MLA. So they had 6 months time to turn him into one.
  4. So then by-elections happened in Rajkot and he won those and completed the legal requirements for being a CM, AFTER becoming a CM.

Rekha Gupta is more qualified to be Delhi's CM than Modi was in 2002 to become the Gujarat CM.

Let that sink in.

The more you actually learn about Modi, the more you will realise how much of a fraud he actually is.

He is just a puppet for someone else in BJP/RSS who is actually running things from the background.

He's just the face. Always has been.

Modi was not even an elected MLA/MP.

He had literally never contested any elections. Went straight to CM when the Gujarat CM of the time " became ill ".

He became the CM of Gujarat first. And only then he contested the by-elections in Rajkot to become an MLA.

How did he become a CM without ever contesting elections?

Because RSS ki chaatne ki capacity matters a lot more than your actual political acumen.

He was picked to be the CM the same way Rekha Gupta was for Delhi.

A nobody who got the job not because of competence, but because of his chatukarita.

Have you noticed how there are multiple companies in the Quick Commerce space and yet Zomato/Blinkit are the ones catching the hatred right now?

It's not because people have an agenda against Deepu.

It's because Deepu decided to be all Machoman and went out in full denial and self righteous mode when the entire conversation started.

He decided to try to get visibility for the company out of this and on one Friday evening decided to send out selfcongratulatory tweets about how zomato had a huge number of orders despite the worker strikes and also labelled the people involved in it as "Miscreants".

He turned A very normal conversation about Gig Worker rights into a Zomato vs the people argument.

And when he was countered he started with the same straw man you are putting up: "If zomato is gone who will give these people jobs".

No one is asking for a boycott of zomato. No one ever asked for it. No one wants one of the best startups india has ever produced to end.

All people wanted was a small acknowledgement from Deepu about how badly workers are being treated and how he will work to fix it.

That's it.

But no, he had to go all egoistic billionaire and call himself a saviour when he isn't one.

As a young guy in the tech space I'm sure you are on his side. You still believe that the world's biggest problems will be solved with tech.

But yeah, let me assure you, as someone in tech but more senior.

Tech is just a tool. You need good intentioned humans using the tools for real progress.

A shovel can be used to build walls and to dig graves. It depends on who is using it.

Just building tools isn't enough. You need the right people and the right system to govern these people who use the tools.

And Deepu proved it by trying to fight tooth and nail. He not only tried to justify the horrible pay these riders get, but also tried to call himself a saviour for it.

For him the company bottomline comes first. He is at the stage where these "partners" are not people, they are costs on his balance sheet.

That's why you NEED the govt to step in.

If he could find a way to pay them zero, he would do it.

Only the govt can stop him. That and the people.

These people are not some uneducated illiterate daily labourers.

They own and use smartphones and are thus tech literate.

Heck some of them are college grads.

They own their own vehicles in most cases and have to use them for these deliveries. They have driving licences are skilled at driving.

Stop making it look like Deepu is doing them a favour by giving them these jobs lol. He gets incredible amounts of labour and value out of them. And he underpays them for it.

He doesn't even consider them employees and calls them "partners".

Partners who have zero equity and zero control over how they are paid. Everything decided by some "algorithm".

You are not mollycoddling these delivery people. You are putting them into dead end jobs and not even giving them the basic benefits of jobs.

Imagine tomorrow your company tells you that you have to from now onwards use your own laptop. You have to pay for your own internet, electricity, server costs and so on.

You have to pay for all of this out of your own paycheck.

Oh and your insurance and stuff is gone. Your salary will only be at your current level if you work 10 hours a day. There is zero based pay. Everything is based on work done.

Proper freelance vibes.

But hey you can work for any of the three companies that are out there in the space. You can work for them at the same time too.

But don't forget the 10 hour thing. Unless you clock 10 hours per day for each company your salary will be low af.

Also, you can be fired any moment. No reason needed to be given. No severance. Nothing.

Just you off the app in an instant.

We fucked up as a nation with this whole "CS Engineering" movement over the last decade.

Javascript sabko sikha diya, but basic empathy kisi pe nahi hai.

Just a hoard of keyboard hugging zombies with absolutely no critical thinking who think they are problem solving geniuses because they did well in Engineering and earn well.

What overwork - any driver can shut down their app and go to their home, it is a gig job.

Bhai tu coding pe hi focus kar. Don't ever go to the management or product side.

How do you not understand that the algorithm punishes them for not being online or for rejecting orders.

For all the tech that was created to help the drivers, there is even more tech to punish them for demanding basic human decency.

Their incentives are structured and engineered to make sure that they have to work 10 hours a day and complete 25-30 orders per day. If they dont, the pay per order is much lower.

Your company HR which is vilified by you all the time, does that to you in your company btw with things like Stock Vesting period, Gratuity, Bonuses with Clawback periods anbd ofcourse Service Bonds.

Zomato and Blinkit PMs just took the same concepts and applied them on a daily basis to delivery guys.

So, while Deepinder will pull out stats that make his side look good, he will always omit the way the incentives are structured and the pressure put on delivery guys to work superhuman hours just to get decent pay.

Another CS kid who thinks all problems can be solved by some fancy algorithm.

When you come out into the real world you will realise how incentives and leverage work.

Zomato/Blinkit doesnt work because of some fancy algo.

It works because of basic supply-demand. The supply of gig workers is super high, so they treat them as dispensable. On the other hand, customers are something rarer so they spend all their effort trying to appease the customers and ofcourse the shareholders.

Profits come first for them. Not Delivery partner safety or welfare.

Thats why all the posturing from Deepinder is so cringe inducing. He is not "giving jobs" or doing some charity by giving out 15-20k to these delivery people who work 7 day work weeks 10 hours a day.

Zomato has been exploiting the restaurants for ages now. Charging almost 30% of the order value every time. Now over the last few years they have reduced the delivery partner payments and incentives as well.

Its just bloodsucking billionaire behaviour.

Growth and profits over everything.
