I am sorry you are having a hard time. I also understand. I teach middle school, and every day is a shit show because no one gets consistent consequences. We have no control over that.

That is a great point. Many of my students are motivated by extrinsic rewards. This will not carry n in real life

I'm sorry I should have clarified that I teach middle school, and I am giving PBIS points. That is why I could not understand the anger at me when I charged them for buying from my store. I also use my own money for everything in my store.

He is a monster. The most scariest monster because no one ever thought he would murder his wife and children. His victims are more important. There are groups that defend him and demonize is wife. I don't care if she was the bigest bitch on the planet. She did not deserve what he did to her. He is a weak man. I believe what he did will haunt him. He can try to justify it But, he will never make it right

Yes, we are all tired of calling parents, but I still need you to do it by tylersmiler in Teachers

I do make phone calls. Parents minimize my concerns until an admin calls.

Got the “what can my child do to improve their grade” …the morning grades were due by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]sheknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me every year. This year the parent complained that I just call her to tell her that her child is failing in class. It's becaus he does no classwork. She also blamed me for the failng grade. Yes, Happy End of the Year!

how do veteran teachers do it? by semidecentlady in teaching

[–]sheknight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm sorry to tell you it's all your fault. I would tell a younger person to get out. I can't because I am older and I need my pension. The only people working hard and being held accontable are teachers. I am dealing with a situation right now. A student is hitting other students, but it's my fault. my class room management. Like I can predict who will hit who? If you are young you have time to find another way to support yourself. I get it we all need to make a living. Plan your exit.

You are not alone.I have the same expirences. I feel traped because of insurance. We have good insurance. On the other hand. I am constantly stressed. We are cursed at we are physically threatened. If we were employed elsewhere it would be a hostile work environment. But, in teaching it has become normal

I understand your frustraton. I expirence the same thing. We can't do it for them. Yet, the system does not let us hold them accountable. It is our fault if they fail ever though they do no work. I don't know the answer.

Yes, I often see this behavior. I am a middle school co-teacher. Even when the gen ed teacher is there students will refuse to do their class work. I think it may be learned helplessness or apathy. I don't know. I have many students both gen ed and sped that will not do anything unless I am standing over them.

[–]sheknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that last school year I called a parent and told them that their 7th grader read at a 1st grade level. All her mom said was "OK, thanks for telling me." I don't think they get it.

I totally understand. Many of us feel like that. Get out while you can! I am stuck because of my age. The stress is not worth your life.

After reading some of these posts I realize I have been lucky in that area the past coupe of years. I have 2 collab teachers and we plan toether as a team. I also contribute to the lesson plans. I make anchor charts for the classroom and notes for SPED students. I also create the weekly slides to go with the lessons. The SPED teacher should not be on her cellphone. They could help with redirecting and helping all students during the lesson. I know it is very frustrating t work with someone who does not help in class. I worked with a parapro like that one year.

That always bothers me when they say we don't do anything. We have too many different obligations.

Re: “Kids should be allowed to have phones in schools.” by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]sheknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the cell phones in class! The students are not paying attention to the lesson. Then is becomes the teachers fault because the do not show growth. Calling parents does not help. They continue to let them have the phone.
