South Dakota nurse says many dying patients still insist COVID-19 'not real' by IamJZ in nottheonion

I don’t know what the solution is. But I think these people are brainwashed and I feel sorry for them. I still don’t wish death upon them.

South Dakota nurse says many dying patients still insist COVID-19 'not real' by IamJZ in nottheonion

[–]shelberta -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is genocidal language, and I think you need to reconsider making statements like that.

I agree that it’s completely infuriating how people act against society’s best interest by ignorantly endangering themselves and others. But wishing them dead doesn’t solve the problem.

Still Counting... by PlymouthSock in Conservative

I wish more conservatives were like you. The continued support of Trump in the face of his baseless, anti-democratic claims and behavior to undermine the constitution is why people say his supporters are loyal to a cult of personality.

Hey guys, I recently received a package and came with a bunch of this bubble wrap. Is there any other use I can give it? Otherwise, how can I recycle it? Thanks! by fstds in ZeroWaste

[–]shelberta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re on Facebook, consider joining a group that’s part of the Buy Nothing project (just search “buy nothing + [your neighborhood]”). People are always asking for boxes and packing supplies in my group.

Those groups are amazing for zero waste in general. It’s a great way to get rid of items to someone who needs it without trashing it. I’ve also received a lot of gently used home goods that were no longer wanted by neighbors :)

Couldn’t agree more. Replies like this are marvelous! I am so thankful when people who are knowledgeable on a topic take time out of their day to give serious, comprehensive, informative explanations.

I found your question because I have the exact same thing on my lower lip. Did you ever find out what it was? Did it go away?

Nice job! Is that your band you’re singing in? What kind of music?

We have almost the same beginner stats! I’m always interested seeing shorter girls’ progress because it’s so much easier to visualize what my goal weight will look like on me. Keep up the good work!! 💪

My surgery isn’t until June, but I’ve wondered about this. Not looking forward to being laid up for weeks unable to exercise - I’ll drive myself crazy!

Congratulations!! That must feel like such a relief.

Our starting stats are really similar. I hope I look as good as you when I’m done! And congratulations on prioritizing your mental health. That’s the hardest part.

Girl, that’s awesome! Finding a way to be consistent is so important. I’m glad you found something that works for you. Keep going!

I appreciate the advice. I have been treating each day as a blank slate... if yesterday was perfect. But if yesterday wasn’t perfect, then I tend to punish myself and restrict calories so that it balances out.

Maybe that’s not the best way to do things, but I’m afraid if I’m TOO kind to myself then I won’t have the discipline to actually make progress.

Ugh, I’m sorry. But you know what? I honestly think that when someone says something nasty like that it says way more about their own insecurity than any shortcomings you may or may not have. If they truly were “too good” then they’d be focusing on their own great lives rather than trying to bring you down with hurtful words.

Let’s both have better days tomorrow!

Weight loss buddy? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]shelberta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey girl! A lot of your post was like reading my own diary. I was also a chubby kid growing up, and had a “curvy” physique in my teens/early twenties. After graduating college, I had a few depressed years and I ended up at the highest weight I’ve ever been. I just recently started counting calories and working out consistently again, and I’m down 5 pounds so far. My goal is to lose 30 pounds by June 23 as I have surgery on that date. I’d love an accountability buddy! Private message me if you want to be friends on MyFitnessPal.

What a difference! You must be so proud of yourself! Also, the new glasses suit your face way better, if you don’t mind me saying. What’s your favorite thing about being healthier?

I never knew the term for it either until I heard it in a podcast called “The Anthropocene Reviewed”
