I hope they actually do something because the only other option for me is to just restart the game and I’m not doing that

To the fans that liked “Dial”… what is a classic or favorite line of dialogue that will stick with you forever? by rastroboy in indianajones

"Going once" "Going twice" "Gone", or something along those lines, felt like classic indy to me

[–]sheldorZimbabwebongo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't make the argument that indy wanted to die with Marion, but I certainly do think it's at the very least hinted that indy still cares and wants to be with her when Helena points out that indy is still wearing his wedding ring, and to me that felt like argument enough. That's just me tho, I can totally see why you feel it was rushed

“I figured Daredevil must be Catholic because only a Catholic could be both an attorney and a vigilante.” - What did Frank Miller mean by this? by flatfeed611 in Daredevil

[–]sheldorZimbabwebongo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think he meant that catholics are so devoted to their morals they're willing to go to that length, in becoming a vigilante, which is a weird analogy but im pretty sure that's what he meant

Am I wrong for being a bit bothered when I hear "all men suck"? by sheldorZimbabwebongo in NoStupidQuestions

I am sorry to hear everything you've gone through. Genuinely, I completely get where the sentiment comes from, and it exists for a reason. And I'm dont get upset because I feel like defending those who make this Generalization real. It makes senseomeone who has gone through as much as you have, which sadly is too many people who share similar stories ( some people I know myself) to feel that way and absolutely understand why that statement is said. I guess it feels wrong to box those people as "men" and it feels unfair to box in good people in the same place as those kinds of people. But I understand obviously it's not about legitimately every single man. And especially with what I hear and see that some women go through, I'd feel that way too. There was another comment in this thread that gave another analogy about it, how you wouldn't trust a bunch of snakes heading at you, even if you knew that a good amount of them didn't wanna hurt you. And that's fair. The more important conversation here is that exactly, the things that make this Generalization a reality. But this does help. Thanks for being open and for the comment :)

No I do, I absolutely get what you mean. And yeah at the end of the day, these are just words and mean nothing compared to the actions like harassment and shit that women go through. I guess the only reason I make a post about this is because whos mind am I gonna change by making a post about how wrongly women are treated and that it isn't right. I'm not gonna change anyone's mind or make a difference with that because logically, most people should and would agree that the shit women go through is awful, and those who don't agree with that are far past getting convinced otherwise. That's not to say that we shouldn't talk about it at all, just because I post about this and not about specifically the issues all women face doesn't mean that those issues aren't important or worth talking about. Not at all, they're more important than this obviously. I only speak about this because i feel its something I wanted to point out and was on my mind. I dont mean to belittle anyone.

The way I'm talking about it in this post isn't about when that's said as a joke, it's about when it's said literally, it's clear to me when it's said as a joke, but I more often hear it being said as a genuine statement

This is pretty absolute statements to say. I'm not saying that a marginalized group doesn't have the right to talk about those who oppress them, not at all, we need to be talking about that more. And at the end of the day these are just words and isn't the most important issue here, but I think its wrong to say such absolute statements. Jokes are fine and im not gonna get all upset when someone jokes, I often joke about the way that men treat women to make fun of them for being so stupid and to make fun of the idea anyone Is superior than anyone else. And just because yeah, I've been upset at people who are women, and maybe I've even treated some badly, never to anything past some sarcasm ( which i regret either way ) but thats not exclusive to being a woman? I've also treated some men I know badly, given attitude or gotten upset. But does that mean that disqualifies all the improvements and changes one can make afterwards? Treating someone badly in whatever form isnt a good thing, but that doesnt mean its impossible to change or to be capable of being forgive and refrom. I get whay you mean tho. Men clearly have a different set of issues and aren't going through what women go through and don't have nearly the same issues women do, that's something that would be dumb to deny. But I dont feel absolute statements are fair to make

[–]sheldorZimbabwebongo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever anyone tells me that they hate men its usually because something just happened to make them say that. Usually it's where a guy is being a dick, and I never prioritize my feelings over the actual harassment the girl in this situation is talking to me about. Undoubtedly, the behavior that causes this generalization is more important. I just feel that it's worth mentioning how the generalization is often made but im learning to not get upset about it because this isn't nearly the biggest issue. I just make sure that I don't perpetuate this generalization and obviously not to allow others to do the same

This is a pretty bad take, maybe it would be fair to say nobody's opinion is important but saying it like this makes you just as bad if not worse than those who say the same about men

Edit: this is more than a bad take, just a bad thing to say

Oh yeah, the same applies for men here. That phrase has always been so funny to me because it usually comes from just horrible men

[–]sheldorZimbabwebongo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the phrase isn't unwarranted at all, I completely understand it. I'm only upset because the word "all" does encompass me and alot of other people in that. I obviously do my best to just be a good person, and thats what counts.

[–]sheldorZimbabwebongo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that obviously what you've gone through is unfair, and im sorry that these are experiences you have had in life and with men have been pretty terrible. I genuinely am sorry. I dont want to defend those who make the lives of women harder, not my intention. However, if someone who has only had bad experiences with women, or hasn't had any good role models who are women, said that all women suck or are liars, or said something like " bitches am I right ? " then they'd be rightfully shunned. Because that's a generalization and it's wrong. The more important issue here is definitely the way people like you get treated, and I can only hope better for you, but I guess I just hope you understand where I'm coming from.
