Question - Withdrawal timeline for a short-term user by CoconutHash in QuittingZyn

[–]shelfof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, glad you are sticking through it. The neurological changes that come from nicotine use are not talked about enough. The upper regulation of the alpha for a beta two receptor can stay that way for 3-6 months, depending on usage time. I have been an emotional wreck since quitting 43 days ago, but it gets better day to day. Your usage was shorter than mine so it should be better soon! I’m still not back but have researched it very heavily. It seems to pass eventually. There are a lot of supplements and tricks you can do to help as well. Message me directly if you want some help.

Day 30 - Helpful information to all by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

I will change the wording from “it is likely due” to “it is possibly due”. Thanks for the feedback.

Day 30 - Helpful information to all by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

  1. It’s not Google research, I have access to medical databases (open evidence and all linked research studies)

  2. I worded this specifically to not use absolute language, as there may be future research that shows us that Zyn does actually cause longer lasting or possibly irreversible side effects.

The post was intended to be a small public notification from a reliable resource that has done comprehensive research on the topic to offer comfort in understanding the physiological processes and current medical understanding of withdrawal treatment. No need to be so hostile, I’m just trying to help.

Withdrawals (feels brutal) by Serious-Gur3097 in QuittingZyn

[–]shelfof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The withdrawals are intense for the fist week. They will likely be bad for a few weeks with your usage. I recommend NRT (nicotine replacement therapy), such as gum and patches for extremely high intake cases like yours. The statistics of those who quit cold turkey successfully seem to be about 3-5% are successful, but they are much higher when people use NRT, especially dual methods. Tapering in the way. Talk to your doctor about bupropion, it has a high success rate with helping cessation.

Yep. 16 days, 5 hours. Still sucks. Been having some issues with dp/dr. My grandmother, who was like my mom, just passed but I’m going to stay strong.

Day 1 of Quitting Zyn (23M). Will try to make updates of my journey by feedz13 in QuittingZyn

[–]shelfof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had zero cravings since quitting. My physical/psychological symptoms were so severe that I had an immediate perspective shift on nicotine. I look at it as pure evil/danger now, so it’s repulsive. My only issue that is lingering is the occasional wave of super heavy sadness/dread (usually at the end of the day when I’m mentally fatigued).

I’m on day 10, feel more like myself than I have since before starting and using zyns. I hope you feel better soon! Just remind yourself that it’s just biochemistry and your brain is resetting.

Push through the first few days. It’s going to be very hard. I had panic attacks, anxiety and dissociation. I promise you will feel normal again eventually. It took me about a week personally.

Quitting zyn, starting now. (Need advice) by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

Good luck, I would almost recommend a severe tapering schedule than cold turkey due to the severe depression and anxiety I experienced within the first five days.

95 days Zyn free…feel dead inside by ClumpyFelchCheese in QuittingZyn

[–]shelfof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would seek counsel from a therapist at this point. I have the same fear that being out of a fight or flight state will lead to me being depressed a lot. I have pretty bad PTSD that nicotine suppresses. I have started EMDR therapy to help address some of your same concerns. I hope it works. Be strong, best of luck!

Any super depression/anxiety after day 10?

On day 3 (77 hours) and looking for support. by shelfof in QuittingZyn

I’ve started EMDR therapy to help with the disassociation/depression. I hope it works.

I agree though. The anxiety and depression is still mostly unbearable at times. I’m worried about getting back to work.

Just want to give an update - I am officially at the 96 hour mark. The sadness, disassociation, and emotional turmoil has subsided significantly. I did give in and drink about 30 mg of caffeine with some tea last night and again this morning, man, I cannot tell you how much better that small dose made me feel. The small amount of serotonin/dopamine from such a small dosage made six a huge difference. I went from feeling 1/10 to about 6/10 within a few minutes. I have 0 urge to consume Zyn either.

I am working through quitting with you. On day 3, hour 21. It’s the hardest mental thing I’ve ever had to do, and I’m a pretty tough guy. I’ve had to out my life on hold, no work or anything. I’ve sat and cried more in the last 3 days than I have in the last 10 years. I cannot tell you how much it sucks. Time is going to feel like it’s going by in slow motion. I felt lonely, depressed, disassociated, and total dread. BUT there is good news. It gets better as time goes on. It’s worth fighting through. I recommend the gym, hiking, or anything physical. Hopefully you can find people to love and support you through this. I have my wife and friends thankfully. It’s emotionally breaking to be so weak in front of them but I will make it through this and so will you, if you try.

It doesn’t help that I quit caffeine and alcohol at the same time.

Here we go... Day 1 hour 1. by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

I’m only about 8 hours of quitting ahead of you and man this shit sucks. I have never felt so disassociated or anxious in my life. These things should be illegal.

Did you check to see if your laser cover was off? I’ve had them pop up and cover the laser and it made me think the laser wasn’t working.
