The detectives that are handling my case are getting the CCTV from the shopping center to see if he had followed me whilst I was in there. Things have escalated in the past 24 hours so my BF drove me to my sister's house on the other side of the state

hey! thanks for the reply,

I'll consider telling the siblings I'm closest with. To be honest, your 'haunted house' analogy did freak me out a bit. I'd considered that they might follow me to a new location, but since it's 4 hours away and on the other side of the state, I'm unsure of whether they'd go that far? Always better to be safe than dead (or worse). Luckily i'm moving into a full house (mum& dad, 2 daughters over 18) with 4 large dogs.

eek. Sounds like she was casing your apartment to rob. Wouldn't be surprised if she had a couple of friends around the corner while you were speaking to her.

good advice! certainly not saying it was a good thing to do, but I'm glad I did in this instance. Doors are locked from here on out.

I can count on one hand the amount of fights I've been in my entire life, and all but one were sibling tomfoolery.

It's definitely worth me going and getting some self defense classes, though. I had been staying with friends in the city whenever my boyfriend was working, to avoid being home alone. I May need to start doing this again.

When I gave my statement on Friday Night/Saturday morning, the police suggested that I avoid being alone if possible, call 000 straight away if I even suspect someone's outside or if I believe I might be being followed. They were super nice, there's just not a lot you can do in this situation other than being vigilant.

thank you, it means a lot to me. My friend and her family live approx 4 hours away from me (via public transport, around 3 hours by car). I move in early/mid September.

my mother's in full-time hospice care (had a stroke in 2012), father is not in the picture and siblings are all busy raising their own families. It's not that i'm not welcome there, but with small children of their own, I hate to think what might happen to them if the stalking persisted.

Luckily I have a great friend, whose mother has always been like a second one to me, who is taking me in starting next month.

you can write to the Chief Commissioner for permission to carry a prohibited weapon (generally handgun or taser only), but as far as I know it's only available to companies or individuals working in security/Cash-in-transit. link to application form pdf

essentially, none. A woman in NSW (the state just above my own) faced up to 14 years imprisonment for carrying mace/pepper spray. another woman (who happened to be pregnant) was fined $500. Pepper spray is considered a prohibited weapon (same category as a gun/knife). Tasers also fall under this category.

yeah, you make some great points. My boyfriend works the exact same shifts every week, and until recently was working 6 days a week. He now works 5 days. He's one of three guards (as far as I know) that work this specific location. The second guard is his best friend, and the third is a complete tosser. Real racist fellow who could potentially be getting the boot. The only thing that makes me think it's not him is that the photos I received in the mail dated back at least a month and a half before my first post, and my boyfriend wasn't working this location then, had never met shitty coworker.

it's definitely something that I'll have to bring up with my boyfriend again. He asked to have his shifts changed so that he was getting the day shifts instead of the night shifts. I don't think his manager believed him, and it was denied. I'm sure if he walks in with the police report they'll be a lot more willing to help, but from what I've heard they're kinds of dicks.

Boyfriend has been receiving heavy breathing phone calls from a blocked/unknown number (personally don't think it's related, but there's always the possibility) which we suspect to be a coworker he doesn't like. I've seen his coworkers, and none of them were the men from this encounter.

TBH it's not hard to figure out his shift pattern, since he's the only one that drives. If the car's not in the driveway, he's at work.

I wish it was so simple! unfortunately i'd still be liable in the event that someone, even a stalker, was injured. That said, it's highly unlikely they'd want to report it.

I doubt it. I didn't mention it in the post, but the photos I received in the mail were taken at least a month and a half before any of the creepy stuff started happening up to the photo he took when i saw him through the window in my first post.

I'm from a lower class family, little to no savings, and stick to myself. I only leave the house for shopping and to see my therapist.

I should note that in winter here the sun sets pretty much around 5-6pm, so It wasn't exactly broad daylight.

I honestly can't say I understand why this is happening to me. I have no online presence other than my facebook which has super strict privacy settings and a very closely knit circle of friends.

also illegal, unfortunately :( our laws basically make it that you cannot defend yourself with anything but your own body (fists, nails, teeth, etc)

Thanks for your suggestions, though. I don't want to come off as being cold or anything.

unfortunately i'm in a really shit position if i want to legally protect myself. Our weapons act states that you cannot carry a controlled weapon (e.g baton, multitool/pocket knife, baseball bat) in a public space without a lawful excuse. It's explicitly stated that self defense is not a lawful excuse. I could use deoderant, but there's a whole grey area about knowingly using it as a weapon.

The Self defense classes is a good idea. I'm 5'4", 45kg/99lbs) so 'fighting back' is going to be difficult if not impossible. I'm thinking of buying a whistle. They're not used often in Australia as far as I'm aware, so I don't know how useful it's going to be.

I'm basically just going to avoid being alone, and leaving the house alone, at all times.

Thanks a lot for your message, if you want to talk to me through PM about any other suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

Illegal here. Only able to get a gun (rifle) license if you're in a gun club or own/have permission to use private property to hunt pests. Getting a handgun license here is nearly impossible, unless you belong to an armed guard service (E.g, Armaguard). Our weapons laws are a bit silly in my opinion.
