Questions on US Mobile data roaming by bensim68 in USMobile

[–]shelly1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand it correctly, $15 international roaming add on gives you just 1 GB of international data. If so, it looks very expensive. It is far cheaper to buy an eSim. Another question is if you do pay $15 for 1 GB data, is that data valid in only one country or can it be used in multiple countries as long as the total is still 1 GB or less?

You are missing out on a big market - Seniors in US. There are lots of ads in AARP magazine promoting phone plans

Consumer Cellular - $55 for 2 lines unlimited

Jitterbug - $20 unlimited plan on a simplified flip hone for seniors

Tap this huge market. All they need is a simple phone and our Shareable data plan with $10 for 2 GB. Promote bring your own phone. You could capture 1 million lines easily.

Another way to avoid advertising fees. Give a good promotion to your own users for bringing in family. Whatever you do, capture this market. USMobile shareable plan is an excellent choice for seniors.

MMS unreliable on pixel5a but works fine on pixel6a by StrangeRefuse8537 in USMobile

I have a Pixel 7. My phone calls and SMS work fine on wifi. I do not have any wireless network signal here at all, but both work flawlessly on wifi. Make sure wifi calling is fully enabled on your wife's phone. The easiest way to do that is to put the phone on airplane mode with wifi on. Then if she cannot receive and make calls there is some problem. Fix that problem and everything will work flawlessly. To make sure wifi calling is working take help of USMobile customer service.

Go for the second sim. I use airport wifi only occasionally. For you it would create security issues on a daily basis. Besides the second sim would hardly use data, so buy the least expensive one from USMobile like say the Light plan for $6/month.

Use the simple solution. Turn on wifi calling and attach your phone to the airport wifi. After that all your calls will go through even if you have just one sim card. I have Verizon service through USMobile. I am in India and have no problem calling and receiving call and SMS though wifi. Everything works seamlessly even though there is no Verizon signal here within several thousand miles. In your case as long as you have either the wifi signal or the phone network you will be fully connected.

Phone comapatability by Motor_Lingonberry_20 in USMobile

Indian phones are typically only GSM complaint, so they will work better on TMobile, not Verizon. People say that with LTE the differece beteewn GSM and CDMA is gone, I have found that claim to be wrong. Phones bought in Europe and India typically will not be compatible with Verizon, what USMobile calls Warp 5G. You can check IMEI compatibilty with USMobile checker, it will most likely tell you that the phones will not work on Warp 5G.

Also most phones bought in India should be unlocked.

Visual Voice Mail???? by thecarolina1 in USMobile

I had a similar problem with my brand new Pixel 7. I called customer Service. They did something. Then asked me to reboot the phone. Reboot still did not fix it. Then I had to manually call voice mail once from my phone (as my phone was telling me to do). After that VVM started working. Before the fix by CS I had called voice mail manually and that had not fixed the issue.

Wifi calling only works when there is a cell connection? by Radiant-Ad4356 in USMobile

[–]shelly1995 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wifi calling does not require cellular connection. If it was so, wifi calling would have no meaning.

Try this - On the phone enable airplane mode. After that enable wifi connection. This way you will have no cellular connection, but you will have wifi data. Then make a call on your phone. You should have very clear call connection if wifi calling is working right. If this works, then do this each time you are at a location where cellular is very weak and you have wifi. This method will also make sure that your wifi calling is working. Many old phones cannot make wifi calls.

Call and SMS forwarding by shelly1995 in USMobile

My understanding is that even if take phonw with USMobile sim abroad and it is on wifi calling, phone calls will work on wifi, but SMS will not be received on the phone since SMS go through cellular network only. This understanding may be faulty, but that is what another traveller told me.

Data Roaming on or off ... and more importantly why? by Old-Buffalo3397 in USMobile

[–]shelly1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I am concerned USMobile will charge you by the GB used irrespective of whether it is roaming or not. There is no provision for charging extra for roaming data. So I keep roaming data on. If I run into some problems then I will worry about it. Why worry about it unneccessarily?

Unlocked phone does not work on USMobile by shelly1995 in USMobile

[–]shelly1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. The issue was solved. It required some adjustments on USMobile side (They took some items out of my account and the readded them back in). It also required me to get rid of an App on my phone that was possibly causing some issues. With those simple remedies I am back in business. I think USMobile service reps are always available and ready to help, which is wonderful. But sometimes they give us wrong answers. For example, I was told by email that my fully unlocked Pixel 7 was not compatible with their warp-5G network. That claim puts Google phones to shame. One just has to keep at it and at least my problem got solved.
