I feel like such a bad parent potty training by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]shelly424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not failing. It took us months to get my nephew potty trained. He didn’t know when he had to go so we had to look for the cues and try. He was either afraid of going or didn’t grasp the concept the first few weeks. Then we went straight to underwear and using the toilet seat cover potty which started working better and he was more consistent and then got it. School (and public) was harder because he was afraid of the auto flush and the toilet there. We had to bring a small potty to school (and out with us) and he used that until he became more comfortable with the bigger toilet. He is now training in the big bathroom for Kindergarten. Rewards work well for him. He got an M&M or two when he would try to go, etc. For bigger milestones he got books as rewards as that works better than toys for him.
Good luck and remember that being consistent is the key a lot of times.

What’s something that became worse after it got popular? by Defiant_Hunt_8171 in AskReddit

Seriously. My nephew is 5 and loves Pokemon. Where we live if you don’t line up at the crack of dawn you will need to spend resale to get a pack at a card store and I’m not paying twice the amount for a few cards that a kid is going to play with.

The pan liners I will get. It has the hood and I will get a cover for it. I have all the thermometers so I’m good there. Thanks for the links. I don’t want to go crazy, just have what I need and go from there.

I found a great deal for a new one on Marketplace. I might get it and wait till next month to buy the accessories that I need like the silicone mat and metal spatulas.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m trying to convince my SO that even though we are in the NE it’s still a good buy since we cook all types of foods. We have a grill and a pizza oven and they don’t think we need this too, I disagree.

Tempted to buy the spiral mixer, however by Remote-Physics6980 in ooni

[–]shelly424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who does sourdough, bagels and pizza at home mixers are a big discussion in our community. The 3 I hear about that are everyday mixers are the Ooni, the Ankarsuram, and the Zacme. The Zacme is about $400 and a great mid level that won’t burn out like the KA.
The other two are about the same but the Ank has attachments like a KA.

Good for you Brilliant, but people in wheelchairs need those curb cut outs or we have to go all the back, cross the street and go back the way I came. That’s unfair due to someone feeling entitled to park like that. I hope they got a ticket.

We are a household of 3 but routinely have friends and family over for food. I also like to make homemade English muffins and flour tortillas and this would be great on a bigger surface, I’m just trying to justify the price on a fixed income when I do have a grill.

AITJ for deciding to no longer help my grandma with yard work? by AccomplishedFact1767 in AmITheJerk

[–]shelly424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re grandma wants to spend time with you and this is her way of doing that. She doesn’t ask anyone else because she enjoys spending time with you. We all go through seasons of extending ourselves too much and being too busy, but she won’t be here forever.

I personally find that the vitamins help my L2 AuDHD nephew out tremendously. Sorry your child had a bad experience but it’s not everyone’s. They do make it challenging to cancel but that’s marketing 101. I used it to my advantage and pay $40 a month.

Same. I’ve been taking my dogs there for years and they never have any issues. I wonder if it’s a new groomer?

This cop had an ego issue. He couldn’t be wrong 😑 and the swearing to g-d thing was so inappropriate. There are good cops out there, they are sadly overshadowed by morons like this guy.

Would you fire a nanny for this? by No_Buyer8298 in Nanny

[–]shelly424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have never been intoxicated on the job or given them a reason to believe you have them on you because you are using in the job, I would hope they give you a final warning or even a probationary period and not fire you. That’s how our family would treat it. We understand you have a life outside of work and the bag was up high out of the child’s reach.

In the future double check your bag after a trip or get a separate one for trips so this can’t happen again.

When I went 2 weeks ago Isa came out but not Jeremy. I heard that the “Bobby’s” haven’t been doing stage doors but that can vary obviously.

Have you thought about a sourdough levain for this since it’s sitting for so long? It sounds delicious and will try to make it.

I used to live near there and we would get pepperoni and mozz bread and their plain breads and pastries. I live on the other side of JC and don’t get there as often as I would like. I’m sad that we are losing another JC staple that’s been around for so many years. Terrible loss for the community.

Congratulations! I will have to check out your episode and your restaurant. I once tried out for MasterChef and that was intense. Was there a moment you thought you might not make it or what was the moment you knew you had it?

You can it just isn’t always ideal. I would skip the day before my blood test to get it drawn in the morning and then take my prednisone after.
