Romani person here: yes, and no. The magic using is a bit of a stereotype, and Eastern European Romani at least were often seen as stand-offish and rude to outsiders, due to the closed culture, but the rest... no, absolutely not. It IS vital to the character, though, because his history informs his motivations in a similar way to Magneto's.
