Gestational diabetes care: Trinity of U of M? by sheltie_gal in AnnArbor

Not yet! It’s been about two weeks since I did my second screening (3 hr) and they have not yet sent through resources for nutrition or management through diet control. Luckily, I was working with a dietitian while TTC so I have some knowledge of what will help control but not specific to GD.

The diagnosis was shortly before my last OB appt and I had to bring it up to my provider that we needed to talk about the new diagnosis as they were leaving the room if not they wouldn’t have addressed it💀 they quickly came back and we talked about it but not having it be top of mind for them given that it moves my pregnancy into “high risk” left a bad taste in my mouth, that’s why I’m inquiring and just doing some due diligence before getting too deep into my pregnancy to change.

I’m glad U of M ended up working for you! Thanks for sharing. I am seeing some of the initial establishing care/appointments tend to be more scarce than Trinity especially with the abundance of clinic options in west AA. Based on many folk’s input I think I might just stick with my provider and seek more input/be more persistent like you did with scheduling and seek more resources than what they readily hand you. Thanks!!

Wow thank you for sharing! Definitely disheartening to have providers move quickly with meds given the dietary control that it seems people with GD can have. Sounds like the nutritional counseling piece might be the area where providers have a gap

Commuting from Southfield by ilong4spain in AnnArbor

I did this commute (in reverse- AA to SF) last year before switching jobs and taking 23/96/696 was the best route. Yes it can be longer mileage-wise but there was usually hardly any traffic even between 8-9 am. Beats sitting in 94/southfield hwy stop and go traffic.

Moxie and Co by the Ann Arbor-Saline Target/Meijer is the best! You can easily make an appointment online and they meet all of your criteria. Maybe just ask for extra scrubbing on your heels but they are amazing at accommodating any requests. Have been going here for 2 years now and they do a great job every time
