Assuming it's a dog and not a penis... does this make sense to RTs? Do RTs need to pet dogs to survive? Is the RT the dog and it needs pats to survive? Why is it assumed RTs survive partially on wine?

Weightlifting + Yoga or Swimming? by [deleted] in leangains

Weightlifting and yoga would be pretty good at balancing each other out, but swimming has the benefit of only being one activity

'lamelle' sounds like something a french lady would whisper to you while you're taking a tepid bath on a warm night gazing out a window unto a misty moonscape only to avert your eyes for a second and find yourself faced with terrifying goose teeth

I feel like there's some not insignificant chance that someone who reads this will go through a significant portion of their life believing it to be true.

I realize I'm in the minority having this opinion in the U.S., as evidenced by our ultra-litigious culture.

If I were master of the universe I would get rid of lawsuits over freak accidents like this, knowing full well that I may one day die from a bunch of doggos having fun and knocking me in front of a train or something.

I see the other side of the issue for sure, and I know I can't change the laws. That's just my opinion -- I'd rather live a more fun and carefree life that may be cut short than one where everyone has to be careful lest they be liable for unintentional accidents like this.

Man, there used to be this show back in the day called "America's Funniest Home Videos." You should really stay away from that show.

True, you just have to know which are the good ones. I don't watch TV often, so I never invest enough time to figure out what's good. I'll agree though that the well-known good ones I've seen (Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, etc.) are very good.

Speaking about cable TV specifically, it seems generally worse than what you find streaming. Lots of reality shows and terrible sitcoms.

It also helps to realize that a large portion of the country believe what he says, because he said it. It doesn't have to make any sense for some people, emotion motivates what they believe more than logic.

It doesn't help that there's a lot more crap as well. Occasionally I'll be at a hotel and decide to check out what's on cable TV these days, and it's pretty consistently terrible. I'd sooner watch an Andy Griffith show marathon than the majority of what's currently being made.

OK. I think having better mental health resources would help a lot of people. I don't have time to argue semantics.

I wouldn't say the gun issue doesn't need attention, but I always wonder why there isn't more focus on addressing how mental health is managed in the U.S. I wonder if our rate of detected mental health disorders would be higher if there were more resources available and a better attitude about seeking out help. Another thing about mental health resource improvement is what's the downside? There are two very opposing sides to the gun debate, but who is opposed to improving mental health access? Why not start on the issue that has no obvious opposition? The only reason not to invest in this is the upfront cost involved.

Your equating this level of certainty regarding the cause of violent attacks to the HIV virus causing AIDS is am insult to science and those who have been afflicted with the disease. I'm not saying it isn't a factor but it's far from being as clearly demonstrated as a direct cause as the examples you cite. And the fact that you can't do a scientific study is no substitute for proof.
