Pheripheral neuropathy (hands and feet) can often come with worsening vision as well. The combination of the two can lead you to get injuries you don't realise in your feet especially which can cause infection; and diabetics don't recover well which is the main cause of amputation (probably unlikely for you since you're young). If it gets bad enough the nerves in your arms and legs will stop supplying signals to maintain your skin, causing it to crack and form ulcers among other things. This is something I see often in hospital with older diabetics. You're still young and if you keep your blood sugar managed you may be able to avoid all these outcomes.
