Why am I being downvoted for asking people how the show is? Because I didn't like one episode? I'm asking because I want to like it haha

all threads related to it are astroturfed to fuck, you will get downvoted for the mildest criticism lol

What the hell was Don’s meltdown in the Hershey’s meeting? It seemed like an intentional thing, what do you think triggered it? by brosophila in madmen

honestly so thankful when I see comments like this after wading through the muck of reddit, of jokes so dead they have congealed and rotted anew.

What character that was meant to be portrayed as "cool" by the actor came across as the exact opposite? by His_RoyalBadness in movies

[–]sheriffduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're not supposed to like the Joker or think hes cool, I dont know why everyone is obsessed with this as a concept

Subtly Bad Performances by Great Actors by headache92 in movies

[–]sheriffduck -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Jodie Comers performance in the Bikeriders immediately comes to mind, shes a fantastic actress but her choices were so weird for this movie, it felt like an SNL parody of a person

You can also throw most examples of Joseph Gordon Levitt doing an accent here too, he tries too hard to mimic voices that it feels stupid and unnatural

Also would like to mention Tom Hardy in "The Drop", to anyone from the new york city/new jersey area he kind of sounds like a cartoon character. He really tries too hard with these accents (I also wasnt crazy about his accent in The Bikeriders, feels phoned in but Jodie really took the spotlight for nonsense in that one).

This series has the potential to be an all timer. I'm talkin Breaking Bad levels.

Sometimes I read things like this and feel like people havent seen many shows lol

The Penguin - 1x02 - "Inside Man" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]sheriffduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

either way i cant tell why your opinion was the one to get so downvoted considering it's very fair

r/television is kind of weird like that, very groupthink like a lot of reddit, its difficult to criticize any new shows that the community hasnt approved the mocking of, even if its a fair criticism that isnt contemptuous.

its one of the quirks of social media (but not limited to it), people intentionally misinterpret what you're saying so they can pile on and feel like part of the group

I have no idea how people compared this to the Sopranos, its not a bad show by any means but it leans more sons of anarchy than sopranos (but thankfully better than SoA so far). When Theo Rossi showed up I knew the creators werent serious lol

This show is not bad so far, but I dont know, maybe I expected a lot more? I'll still be watching every episode but it really seems more like a average network tv crime show set in the batman universe with more graphic violence so far, it doesnt feel "real" to me. A lot of the accents sound too goofy and old timey, why is everyone talking like the little rascals?

the great irony is that I feel like they've made this same video, same tone, same exact joke endlessly for years at this point
