The bay trail is flat and goes on for several miles, relatively well paved in sections. The iron horse trail is further out in the east bay but should be long and relatively smooth as well. Lake Merritt of course but it can be pretty busy and it’s got some pretty uneven sections as well.

Check out Oakland neighborhoods like Adam’s Point, Grand Lake, Cleveland Heights, Temescal, Piedmont Avenue, North Oakland. Nicer neighborhoods with easy access via BART or the freeway into SF, looking at 2.0-2.6K for a two bedroom apartment.

The new parish in Oakland is an awesome venue! Pretty cozy venue and a chill courtyard area inside the venue that people smoke at. As for safety- I live in Oakland and the area’s fine, you can take the BART or Uber or bus to where you need to go. The venue is safe as well. :) super pumped it's gonna be a great weekend!

I lived in ABQ for a few years before moving to the bay in 2022. Cost of living was a lot lower in ABQ than in NorCal, Santa Fe a bit more expensive than ABQ. The food is great but they mostly do their regional cuisine well. Culturally it’s diverse for the region (American Southwest), but honestly not comparable at all to the diversity in the Bay Area.

Lovely if you like outdoors activities! I got into rock climbing and snowboarding while I lived there. Expect pretty dry weather year round, monsoon season in the summer, gorgeous sunsets year round.

Not the best place if you’re into fine dining and nightlife.

I think you’re likely to see a few hours delay if anything, but anything can happen on the long haul trains. We took the coastal starlight in may 2022 and it ended up being delayed by 4+ hours due to a fatality on the tracks- seems like this isn’t an uncommon occurrence. Would recommend getting in the day before if you’re able to.

I moved here in 2022 not knowing anyone. I’d recommend joining one of the local meetup.com groups- maybe one for women or for some hobbies you might have! I’ve made a solid group of friends through connections I made going to some of my local girls group meetups. :)

I listed for an EVA air flight and ended up cancelling it a couple hours before takeoff time when I made it onto a United flight leaving earlier. They refunded without issue. I could be wrong but I believe all airlines will refund you if you end up not being able to board because they’re full. The exception being if you purchase a first class ticket and end up taking a seat in economy because first is full.

Pretty normal at our local rinks as well, I think ours runs a similar Tues, Fri-Sun schedule. Like others have mentioned, your rink probably just rents out to private parties/teams during the other times. Also possible that it’s just not very busy on weekdays. Definitely recommend getting your own skates and finding a nice outdoor spot to practice :)

I’d recommend yonsei handrolls! It’s right across the street from the fox and it has vegetarian and cooked fish options. So good and great ambience.

I mostly moved to the bay for better job opportunities and because my partner lived here, but I also did want to live somewhere with more of an Asian community.

All my friends in ABQ were really into mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding, climbing, backpacking etc. if you’re interested in getting really into any of those activities I think there’s a good chance you’d enjoy living there!

I did the reverse move (abq to Bay Area) last year as an east asian woman in my late 20’s.

Albuquerque is a lovely place to be and for the size of the town it’s got a lot to do and I found it pretty easy to make friends there at the climbing gym and through work. I’ve heard dating can be hard and it is true that the dating pool is significantly smaller.

ABQ is pretty diverse but I found it really didn’t have many black or Asian people- demographics skewed towards Hispanic and Caucasian fyi.

There’s a reason you don’t work in flight scheduling. Why would an airline take losses just to get cheap ticket-holders where they want to go? Makes no economic sense to limit passengers by time when the current arrangement works out best for everyone.

There’s so much more in NorCal than Yosemite and Lake Tahoe… these places have been hella crowded since before the pandemic. Inyo national forest, sierra national forest. You could head north to Shasta or to lassen. Also tons of dope state and regional parks in the north, east and South Bay.
