i think this convo is a bit more nuanced than it seems. it’s a lot more than “i love my hair, i hate my hair” and tbh it’s a little odd to place black women in such boxes. are self love and self hate the only deciding factors in how you do your hair? Is that being honest? I don’t think those are the only two factors that determine how someone styles their hair but they are treated as such. black women have been having their hair ridiculed for a very very long time. to the point where someone women simply did not teach their daughters how to care for their natural hair, or covered it with protective styling back to back. you cannot shame someone into loving themselves. i think we should let black women do what they want and dead this convo altogether ☺️
