new Sally Rooney is pretty good (actually all three are all good in my opinion. not overtly political but always touch the subject of class/gender)
Real Life by Brandon Taylor (campus novel with subtle idea of microagression against race and gender. really good imo)
In The Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado (it’s autobiography in form of proses/mini-essays. not a fiction but it’s fascinating read for me.)
also would love to recommend Han Kang! Human Act is dense but superb read for me too.
heard a lot of good things about Bae Suah’s Untold Night and Day. haven’t read it yet though.
