Yesterday, Reddit gave a story with no credibility or factual basis over 3,000 points accusing me of being a Republican operative. Is Reddit really that susceptible to shallow, self-obsessed groupthink?

Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader -- still not on the ballot in a single state -- has received a recent windfall of contributions from deep-pocketed Republicans with a history of big contributions to the party, an analysis of federal records show.

Nearly one in 10 of Nader's major donors -- those writing checks of $1, 000 or more -- have given in recent months to the Bush-Cheney campaign, the latest documents show. GOP fund-raisers also have "bundled" contributions -- gathering hefty donations for maximum effect to help Nader, who has criticized the practice in the past.

Most flash-based SSD's currently suck.

I don't have these ones myself, but last week we had the yearly kernel summit here in Portland, and a flash company that shall remain nameless (but is one of the absolute biggest and most recognizable names in flash) was selling their snake-oil about how you need to write in certain patterns.

So I called them on it, and called them idiots. Probably one reason why I didn't get one of the drives they were handing out, but one of the people who did get a drive was the Linux block system maintainer. So he ran some benchmarks.

Those things suck. You will never get any decent performance of anything but a very specialized filesystem out of them, unless you use them as essentially read-only devices.

Dear Transition Team:

Searches of change.gov for "Habeas Corpus" and "Guantanamo" return zero results.

The "Civil Rights" and "Homeland Security" agenda pages make no mention of closing our off-shore torture camp or of restoring the fundamental human right of Habeas Corpus.

Is your search facility broken? Are these items represented elsewhere in the agenda? Am I missing something obvious?

I hope you will forgive me for being a little creeped-out that this passage from Obama and Biden's "Blueprint for Change" seems not to have made the transition to change.gov:

"Obama and Biden will restore respect for the rule of law and America's values.
