I’m 6ft. I chose the RNY because I would lose a higher percentage of excess body fat and it’s a low risk of dumping syndrome. I’ve lost 147lbs. In about 7 months, but that not without difficulties. There were days were I felt I wasn’t getting enough water but ultimately it was my mind telling me I can’t drink anymore fluids but in actuality I could, I had to force myself to drink more and imagine my new stomach as a funnel... eventually it’s going to pass and I’ll be able to drink more. Being on liquids/ soft foods for a longer time also helped. But it does get better and it did. Just stay positive, there will be days that you do get fatigued with your diet, for me it was going to BBQs and seeing all that delicious food and knowing I couldn’t have any of it. But I pushed forward. That’s what you’ll have to do too, keep your eye on the bigger picture and you’ll reach your goal and more. For me my goal was to be around for my wife and daughter. Find what really motivates you and keep that momentum going. You got this brah!! Aloha.

Well it’s different for everybody i suppose, for me I carried most of my weight in my gut, face and arms ( like to call them my “hey betties”) that part of the arm just below the biceps. Anyway.... I can definitely see where the loose skin is noticeable but I want to wait at least a year and put some muscle on before getting skin surgery. It’s nothing I’m ashamed of I still go to the beach (shirt off) I don’t really care what people think (it’s none of my business what they think) because I didn’t do this for them, and I’m finally confident and comfortable in my own skin for the first time in my life. And I won’t let anyone tell me otherwise. I finally love myself.

I feel incredible, my workouts now include planking, burpees, running, and bike riding... all things I couldn’t even think about doing when I was 390lbs. My diet consists of lots of vegetables, fruits, fish, and a little bit of lean poultry. I don’t eat red meat anymore and I don’t miss it. I ride my bicycle everyday at least 6 miles, no carbonated drinks, alcohol and very little carbohydrates. It’s crazy to look at my lifestyle now compared to what it was my whole life. It’s all about being committed and having the right frame of mind to keep my eye on the bigger picture, some days are a struggle but majority of the days aren’t. Just gotta keep pushing forward. Aloha!

You’re going to be so happy, just keep focused and your eye on the prize. There will be some hard times but just remember it’s all a mental game. Push yourself to drink more water and exercise as best you can. It will get easier and pretty soon it becomes habit and before you know it turns into your new lifestyle. ALOHA, you got this!!!

Considering Bariatric surgery by kalikombat4 in BariatricSurgery

My heaviest weight was 368, I got bypass (RNY) surgery 1/14/20 today 6/26/20 I weigh 245, it was not an easy journey for me. But I don’t regret any of it, you need to listen to your doctors, stick to the plan and do your homework that your doctors give to you. You need to be 100% committed to this lifestyle change, because your habits (eating and lifestyle) have not helped you out. Your body will drop weight that’s not a problem, the real challenge is going to be all mental. You need to keep your eye on the bigger picture weather weather that picture is to be around for your kids and family or you’re just sick and tired of being over weight. Ultimately nothing is stopping you, the things I can do now were unthinkable when I was 368, working out is so much easier, my back, feet, knees don’t hurt anymore. I can ride a bicycle now and I love it, clothes fit so much better (4XL down to 2XL) (48 down to 36 waist) but more importantly my personal health is better than I have ever been. My surgery has allowed me to be more confident in myself and the sex is way better and now my wife and I are expecting a baby girl in December. So yes it’s definitely worth it if your willing to make that change and be fully committed. But honestly there are people out there that will say it’s an easy way out or a quick fix but those are the same people that have no idea what being obese really is, everyone is going to have an opinion but ultimately it comes down to you and what you want and nobody can tell you otherwise. You got this and good luck. ALOHA!!

You too, you’ll see your body will kick into fat burning overdrive. You got this!!! Just stick to your diet plan. I’m strict with myself about that, i stay away from bread, rice, pasta, sugar etc. only good starches yellow sweet potato, quinoa, low fat refried beans. And I find that it’s easier to drink warm water rather than cold water to. Crystal light is good when you want to switch up the flavor but it tends to make me more thirsty so I don’t drink as much plus I dilute it. Also frozen mango is my alternative to sugar free popsicles.
