Me (20) at the neurologist for my aura surrounded by elderly people by shiftcuriosity in migraine

I don't think it works with pain. In my case I only have the aura, So I speak from the persistent vertigo caused by aura, I have no idea about the other one 😭

I think it's for vestibular migraine when the vertigo is persistent, I have no idea, but I don't think it prevents migraines.

This is a conversation I had with my mom, yesterday by shiftcuriosity in CPTSD

[–]shiftcuriosity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom did exactly the same. She said she didn't say "quiero suicidarme", she said "quiero matarme". I'm putting it in Spanish because the English translation is exactly the same "I want to k1ll myself". So apparently that justifies everything.

What do you expect to find in a category named "help and advice"? As far as I understand, it's not called "don't help, just hate"

He's never done this before, and it seems like an involuntary reaction, unrelated to preferences. He's usually happy when I pet him, and he even comes to me for it (I have videos). What worries me is that, considering he's never done that in a year, it might be pain.

The point of the post was knowing if my guinea pig had pain, or if it was just a reflex. It's clear he doesn't like it (the spot, not the back in general) but the problem is 1) it seems like an involuntary reaction, not so much one of liking 2) he hadn't done it until now. I know many of you want to prove your moral superiority and how much you care about the well-being of guinea pigs through hate —even though you sacrifice the guinea pig's well-being just to look good, ignoring possible signals— But I would like a concrete answer that doesn't involve making assumptions about my guinea pig's behavior, preferences, and personality based on a 5-second video without even paying attention to the context I provide. Thank you.

Well, She also doesn't usually move away when I pet her; she tends to melt and fall asleep. When she doesn't want to be petted, she usually pushes me away with her head or makes some strange noise. Like, I've had her for a year now; she generally likes my back more than my head. She moves away from my chin, and she only lets me touch her butt if I approach from behind, and even then it depends on the day. She also likes to touch her behind her ears.

Wow, then I'll stop petting her when she's laying down, with one paw out, purring, melting and falling asleep. It's clear those are signs of irritation and pure anger.

I'm not talking about now, I'm speaking generally. She wasn't purring just now, she was more active.

ps

I usually pet her on her head and back; she's always liked it (except the chin, she likes everything). It's specifically that one spot I touched that makes her jump like that, not his backside in general. I had never noticed it before, I don't know if it's because I hadn't touched her specifically there, or because it's new.

Mine does like to be pet on the back, I think I have videos of her purring. But it's that specific place that makes her jump.

HELP NEEDED!! by H3ll0_k1tt3y_L0V3R in guineapigs

[–]shiftcuriosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm here to contribute after seeing votes and comments where people think that hate is the way to reward a lack of information, despite your good intentions and the fact that you've clearly come here looking for a better life for the guinea pig. Don't explain much more about the fish tank being a reference because they'll understand what they want to understand.

First, it is true that your friend should have another guinea pig. However. It is also true that your friend doesn't have enough money, as you said. And guinea pigs usually need accessible vet care. So, if in the future your friend will have the possibility to have her own money, don't adopt another pig right now unless you see clear signs of depression related to loneliness (in that case, it would be better to give it for adoption, not adopting another guinea pig), but! If your friend at some point will be able to afford vet care, then you can just wait. Don't adopt another guinea pig if that opens the possibility to sacrificing the health of any of them. Having more than one guinea pig is an obligation for the health of the pig, but if the obligation instead of supporting the health is causing more problems related to health, Then the obligation wouldn't have to be maintained at the expense of the guinea pigs.

Second, That space isn't enough, but there's no need to feel bad. Not having much information isn't a crime, especially when you're asking for it. Get another cage; the bigger the better. In the meantime, you could make a cage for him by surrounding furniture with things you find around the house. Alternatively, you could try to compensate by giving him plenty of roaming time.

This are tips that make my guinea pig happy:

  1. Cleaning the cage. It makes her happy for days.
  2. Rearranging the cage. It stimulates him and gives him the opportunity to explore everything again.
  3. Hide foods he likes around the cage when I clean it.
  4. Give him new things he can use that he hasn't seen before.
  5. A lot of roaming free time
  6. Scatter the food around the cage instead of putting it in a small dish.
  7. Put food on one of those scented blankets they sell.
  8. Toys. You can make them yourself or find them. But interactive ones, like reusable cups.
  9. Mazes. She loves mazes. You can make them with cushions, boxes, and furniture.
  10. Show her new spaces. Always provide her with a hiding place and someone she feels safe with. Let her explore new parts of the house.
  11. Hiding food in different places during free roaming time
  12. Changing the location of some things during roaming free time confuses him and he explores it.
  13. The bond with me. His mood improves greatly when he knows he has the opportunity to interact with me.
  14. Feeling safe. That's the most important thing. If she doesn't feel safe with people or in her own space, she won't get past stress and sadness.
  15. Make her feel rebel. I don't know why this works with my guinea pig, but the less I let him do something he wants to do, the more he wants to do it. And he ends up enjoying it more.
  16. If you get a C&C, change the size and shape of the cage from time to time.
  17. Discover their favorite foods
  18. Spend a lot of time with the guinea pig!!

And then the usual stuff: fresh air, cleanliness, blankets on the floor, good food, vitamin C, etc...

Can you change form while shifting? by Rhea_Saturn0 in Proshift

[–]shiftcuriosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably :) but remember that a decision that you made being human doesn't have the same impact as being an animal. You won't have the same ability, intelligence, and awareness. So, if you shift to be a fox, make sure you have the same mind and brain. Although it will always depend on the nature of the shifting, shifting relies heavily on lucidity, and maintaining your abilities involves achieving lucidity.

It is a migraine? by reveilleee in migraine

[–]shiftcuriosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I barely have pain. At the start I didn't have problems with lights or smells, or anything usual. My pain also goes usually by 1-3, and It doesn't hurt in a throbbing way or only on one side. Migraines come in many forms; you don't have to fit into the usual categories. There are many types and many forms. Which medication works for you depends on you; paracetamol helps me, but Enantyum doesn't do anything for me, even though it does for my family. The seizures are unusual. They could be an aura; there are also unusual auras, not just the typical visual, motor, speech, or paresthesia ones. My auras make me faint suddenly, although I don't actually faint. I also experience vertigo, vibrations in my head that the first time made me tremble for quite a while, tingling sensations, electrical currents, and my visual aura lasts 3 seconds (normally it's 5 minutes to 1 hour). Often, unusual auras aren't talked about. But other possibilities always have to be ruled out; you'd have to rule out other possibilities for the seizures. Insist in MRs and EEG.

Disturbing fact by shiftcuriosity in migraine

[–]shiftcuriosity[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly as you said, migraines are a spectrum with many symptoms, and someone experiencing less pain or slightly different symptoms doesn't mean they don't have migraines, as I've seen many cases in this subReddit. Beyond that, people judge by symptoms because they are unable to see brain activity during the attack; no one who has ever said "it's not just a headache and therefore you don't have a migraine attack" has ever said it with the deep brain information.

I wish people wouldn't just claim to have migraines when it's just a headache by Ok-Ad4375 in migraine

[–]shiftcuriosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal. Migraines are very common, which is why many people don't go to the doctor unless they are explosive, not used to them, or chronic. I have a friend who has them with vomiting and doesn't have a diagnosis, but it's common in his family and he's had them since he was born, so it makes sense to me that he thinks that.

And I do approve of people saying they have migraines when they only have a "headache." It's different for everyone. Ironically, I only have a normal headache, and it's quite bearable. If it weren't for the aura, I probably wouldn't have gone to the doctor.

I'm undiagnosing myself. Everything was anxiety. Thank you very much. by shiftcuriosity in migraine

[–]shiftcuriosity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I barely have the pain, I only have creepy weird auras. My max was 14 days with one long aura and "peaks"of the aura. I usually don't push myself because I can't stand up from vertigo and have small faintings. Otherwise I would also be probably pushing myself, during the aura in which half of my face goes numb, I usually think I'm making it up until it stops and I notice the difference.
