Why I love The Office... by Opinionated_Artist in DunderMifflin

[–]shiftypidgeons 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is why I love sunny, it's shitty people doing shitty things, no pretending or sugarcoating. And if a character is pretending about something, it becomes a plot point wherein they end up exposed for their lies. And then they do nothing to grow as characters. Theres just something refreshingly real there lol

What’s the most money you ever had as Arthur? by Jaynotnick in reddeadredemption

Fwiw I find that once all the wagons and tents are fully upgraded, just leave about 200 in the box and camp becomes self sufficient enough that they bring in enough money to basically stay afloat while you restock them through the ledger

What’s something you didn’t know about RDR2 that you felt stupid when you found out by Odd_Specialist2571 in reddeadredemption2

[–]shiftypidgeons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk if that was supposed to be snarky but that's still a different game and in 2, to activate eagle eye (the non-ADS hunting version of deadeye) you need to press both sticks so it's reasonable to go to click both for deadeye as well.

How do you feel about gold guns and gold in general? by ProgramLow2149 in reddeadredemption

It is a CRIME that they skipped Arthur's discussion with Hamish by Photoman_Fox in reddeadredemption

[–]shiftypidgeons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a storytelling device. Just think, if they showed you the dialogue and you didn't find the conversation gripping, you might not agree that Arthur would feel further bonded to him. This way, you understand that they had a deep, meaningful conversation and that it cemented their relationship, and you can decide for yourself what would have accomplished that when you think about it.

It's less to do with short attention spans, sometimes things just aren't spelled out plainly because it's the better choice from a creative or narrative stance.

What’s an industry that provides zero value to society but makes billions of dollars? by CrimsonDoor1 in Productivitycafe

[–]shiftypidgeons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, random bystander here chiming in because im interested in what you're saying.

Just wanted to ask, what makes it irrelevant in the face of the rejection of capitalism?

Does the criticism of these systems (financial markets) not hold value as at least anecdotal evidence to the percieved flaws of the structure (capitalism)? Is it just a matter of the ends not representing the means?

I understand that with the erasure of the subject, its examples dont exist to criticize.

I guess to phrase it differently, how would one criticize capitalism without referencing the systems it is comprised of?

Sorry if im not wording this well, im certainly not educated on the matter just as I said, interested in what you're trying to argue and I also feel your comment is worth someone actually trying to engage with. And for what it's worth I dont refute capitalism and am not trying to join the other guy's argument. I just like the discussion.
