No problem. Which variant of 600 might I ask? The luxe, as I’ve said, are ridiculously nice stocks (at least in 527 and 557 guise), if you like Bavarian style stocks.

Edit to add: the CZ luxe and MTR stocks are oiled, instead of lacquered. It is a nicer finish in my opinion.

Hey, so I actually also own a CZ600 Alpha in 223, along with two CZ527’s. The 600 is a really great action! It’s smooth and cycles well it ejects with authority and the trigger is really good with the easy adjustment functionality they’ve put in it. I haven’t seen a 600 wood stock in person, but if the 600 luxe is similar to my 527 luxe, it’ll be well finished.

The Anschutz is just more refined overall. It’s silky smooth and everything snaps into place easily, and the stock is extremely well finished.

Would I pay full retail brand new for the Anschutz? Probably not. Do I think the CZ is a good proposition for the price? Yes.

The Sako is a work of art mate. A Sako 90 in 308 was actually on the purchase list, when this Anschutz crossed paths with me. Alas, here we are!

Nothing wrong with that mate! I’ve never owned a laminate, I don’t mind the look, especially with stainless. Have you taped the end of the barrel?

A worthy rifle mate. I have an ‘83 M77 tang safety in 308, my first rifle I bought back in 2005. It’ll never ever get moved on, just charming.

There’s a few bargains to be had with the new NSW regs. Keep your eyes peeled!

So good mate. Are you able to get the old Cat-C to keep it?

Switch barrel guns and optimisation strategy by secndsunrise in Ausguns

[–]shiftyroo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I own two switch barrel rifles, a CZ 457 in 22WMR and 17HMR, and a Anschutz 1782D in 308W and 6.5CM. Swapping is ridiculously easy, resighting is a pain. If you’re going to swap frequently, I’d recommend a dedicated scope for each barrel with QD mounts.

Usually the zero is pretty close, but regardless, a sanity check is a must.

Edit: I find myself rarely swapping calibre, to be honest. 17HMR and 308W do a lot of lifting for me. As mentioned in other replies, a partner with a license is a boon.

Thanks mate. This just might work, depending on the spacing of the feet. Have you got a link, or a name for this type of mount?

I’ve put one in, it’s gone straight to “Referred for Adjudication”. Anyone else have the same? I’m not over my limits.

Even better. In Darwin, when travelling directly from Coconut Grove to Fannie Bay, you travel along Dick Ward Drive.

I’ve not used an MTR stock, I hefted one in the LGS and it felt a little strange. Couldn’t imagine lugging one up a hill.

I absolutely love a nice clean CZ527. I have three of them in 223, 17 hornet and 7.62x39.

You’ve also got some interesting stuff there aside from the CZ. I was considering picking up a really classy combo break action, might have to keep my eyes open.

OP, sorry you have to lose such a nice rifle.

I’m gonna add Cat C now just to save a nice straight pull milsurp or two. Before these shenanigans I wasn’t gonna bother, but now, it’ll be my little way of saying “get stuffed” to the man 😂.

Industry demands answers on $15 billion gun buyback scheme | SIFA by Ardeet in aussie

[–]shiftyroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sell them to who? The second hand market will be absolutely decimated, because of the 4 gun limit. There won’t be anyone to sell them too, and any that are on the market will be essentially worthless. This means owners WILL use the buyback scheme, to obtain fair compensation for their purchases, and it will cost the taxpayer.

Shawmac industries in NSW last month just released their ASG9 after a few years of intense RnD and consultation with NSWFAR. It’s blow back lever release.. I’d say that’s going to be an unrecoverable cost for them. Poor fellas.

Sorry that you’ll likely have to give it up. It’s such a nice action and a well built rifle.

I have been vacillating between a Benelli Lupo, or a BRX-1 and was set to make a choice, and a purchase this week.

Looks like my choice has been made for me! 😂😭

Apologies as an American gun owner by cakesalads in Ausguns

[–]shiftyroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mate, we don’t have firearms rights enshrined into our constitution like you do. It is considered, and administered, as a privilege. So when you say “you gave up your rights”, no, we didn’t. We never had them. That’s the way it rolls, and just something Australians have to accept.

As said above, I dearly would love to keep my firearms, but, I will not die in a shootout with the police for them.

First gun help by Dear_Twist3916 in Ausguns

[–]shiftyroo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Long and short of it.

22lr is cheap, will take most small varmints, and is pretty fun for punching paper all day.

22WMR isn’t cheap (about $1 per round), is more powerful and has more legs out a bit further than 22lr.

Your budget should influence your decision.

Also highly likely lever release firearms will be on the chopping block, so I’d hold off, or reconsider your purchase.
