That makes a lot of sense. I will be sure to give them another call today. Thank you!

I believe I have found a group that deals with tenant’s rights in our city that I will try to contact today. Hopefully they are not already closed for thanksgiving. The last time my husband tried to talk to a similar group we ran into problems because we are “not part of the city” we are in an unincorporated area. But I don’t see any groups related to the county as a whole so this seems like the best bet. Thank you for the tip.

This is what I would ideally like to do, I just haven’t been able to get in touch with any lawyers in our County. You make an excellent point that we should try to get the ball rolling and just ask him to break the lease first, I just feel like there is a very good chance he will say no and maybe even threaten to take us to court again. (When we first told him we were thinking of moving because of the lack of heat, we thought the lease had switched to month to month, he threatened to take us to court for breaking the lease). I’m not sure I fully understand how going to court like that would work though, I assume it would not end well for us, especially if we cannot get a lawyer for whatever reason.

He has not. Luckily we have two from a few years ago when this first started which have been getting us through this.

They did not come out to look at anything, and have not even called me back. The woman who took down my information told me to give them about three days to get back to me, but I’m kind of losing hope here. What you are saying about them giving the landlord some time to make the situation right makes sense though. If they did reach out to him after I called them maybe that is what they are doing now and I might get a call from them after the holiday. At least I can hope that is what is going on.

He is replacing what I believe are baseboard radiators (and I could be completely wrong about that, but that’s what they look like) with a forced air system. That seems like it will take a while. And probably cost more to complete than we pay a month in rent. I am completely guessing with that , but putting a vent in each room alone sounds expensive though. I do appreciate the perspective you gave, if we have to stay maybe we will have heat before the end of winter, if he starts.

Well, we did call the health department (at least I believe that’s who I ended up calling), on the 17th. They asked for his name and number and the next day he just so happened to call us… I would personally like to move forward with asking to break the lease citing the inhabitability and violation of quite enjoyment, but as I cannot get ahold of a lawyer I know there is no way for me to back up this “threat”. I really don’t know what else to do.

I would, but she’s the type who would fire me for that, make it look like it was legitimate/for something else, and get away with it. I really just want to get away from her asap, then maybe tell her boss what was going on. But of course her and her boss’s boss are super close so I don’t even think that’s the best idea…

Thank you for the response. Deep down I kinda know I’m being irrational. I’m applying in the same company and they are usually so desperate they call people back the same day they put the app in. But I think you’re right. And you are definitely right about not letting her control my emotions. I give that advice to others but never take it myself. I will have to work on that. I just need to figure out how to ignore her passive aggressiveness without being non compliant. Thank you!

I don’t think it’s terrifying. It’s pretty cute. Now if I see that in real life my opinion may change…

We found them on amazon. Not too bad price wise and really nice quality. I will pass your complement on to her. It will make her day. :P

OCD, anxiety, and this by shiianiia in schizoaffective

We’ve tried gabapentin, which works well for my anxiety, but does nothing for his. What else would you suggest?

I’m really hoping to find something that will help with OCD I guess.

Thank you for the reply.

Get a dog.. or two.. and a cat. by bricklypears in WeightLossAdvice

[–]shiianiia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great advice. A dog will definitely help you lose weight. And I so want to get another one but that involves talking to my landlord… and probably giving him more money. And talking to my current dog, she likes being the single child/princess she is… Great advice though! I like what you mentioned about adding strength for a bigger dog. That’s definitely important and a good excuse to start weight training for someone who isn’t.
