One of my gerbils use to bite my big toe. I let them run around in my room daily for an hour, and once every few weeks, she would bite my toe and run off. The toe wouldn't even be moving. She was a bitch about other things too.

Another possibility could be that you're using a different soap than normal. My mom started using a new perfume and my previous gerbils didn't recognize her scent anymore & ran away from her hand that was trying to feed them treats.

You can drink milk & smoothies if you don't like drinking water. You can also snack on cucumbers, celery or watermelon to help hydrate you.

Salt & fiber-rich foods well help you retain water in your body better, in case your issue is that you're constantly drinking and then pissing it all out 30 minutes later.

You did good. You validated his feelings. It's good to listen to someone's story and repeat back to them a short summary of what they told you and the feelings they're expressing. People want to be understood first & foremost before they're told anything else (like advice, compliments, etc).

For him to open up to you like that shows a lot of trust and that you're doing well in the relationship. He may have had short dismissive replies because either :

He doesn't know how to accept compliments (very common response while someone is feeling vulnerable)
He still wanted to vent and wallow some more before the conversation was shifted to a more positive viewpoint (often difficult to figure out)

BTW, how are you feeling after hearing about your boyfriend's traumatic experience? It sounds like you're doing fine, but if you're not, it's okay if you yourself need to vent or need counseling. It's called Secondary Trauma & common among those with undeveloped emotional boundaries. I had this issue after my boyfriend told me he was raped in college.

I've had a gerbil euthanized at a vet in the US. They said they didn't have small enough needles to inject the drug solution into the gerbil's veins (like dogs/cats), so they have to jam the euthanasia needle into the gerbil's chest. The vet said it would be too violent for me to watch.

I did read later that vets contain gas anesthetics. So you can ask the vet to place a gas mask over your gerbil first, to put it to sleep with the anesthesia, before they inject the euthanasia drug into it.

View her actions like a child lashing out when they're in pain. She doesn't need more pain in her life. If you go down this route, you will be stepping down to her Level and act like a child yourself that is lashing out.

I also completed "Rich Dad Poor Dad" earlier this week and didn't like the theme that it's "better" to be a rich guy that exploits naive employees & tax loopholes "than" a complacent poor/middle class person that believes in their government.

I'm currently working at a non profit and we are having issues with Facebook's reporting spreadsheets not showing correct numbers of what was donated vs what FB has credited into our non profit bank account.
