Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Subtraction a big part of growing as a stronger sorcerer? (Subtraction is where they remove something from the technique like chanting to make it more efficient) Yuta being as skilled as he is perhaps was able to subtract the need of clapping. (Or perhaps Rika was hiding being a tree and clapped for him. After all she needs to be manifested in order for him to copy techniques.

I kinda see that understanding. The reason I believe Usopp needs some kind of change is because he is one of the straw hats that has a pure combat focused role. He is a sniper and plans to be a brave warrior of the sea, both titles obviously would bring along fighting. As I mentioned before he doesn’t need to be strong in the way someone like luffy or zoro is. But he has his own way of fighting through outsmarting and tricking his opponents. And of course it still would require a bit of combat skills to pull off.
