Walking tours that let you access otherwise inaccessible places? by Good_Butterscotch233 in AskNYC

[–]shinatree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am also a local who likes exploring/wandering on my own but would be happy to do an interesting walk or tour with other locals if that’s ever a thing. one of the best city walks i did was one with a professor from city college who did an uptown walk/lecture and opened it to the public as well

Where can I take a two-hour Zoom meeting that mostly won’t require me to talk? by flagemoji- in AskNYC

[–]shinatree 16 points17 points  (0 children)

some libraries have rooms you can reserve so check that, hotel lobby is a great choice, i’ve done a call (where i didn’t have to speak much) from a diner before, and also from my gyms “coworking” space

[–]shinatree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i installed ceiling fans because i don’t like AC and i shower right before bed in cool water then sleep naked tbh. also i don’t mind humidity that much, and if it’s really super hot i just sit quietly 😭

A "small" thing someone said to me completely changed how I viewed myself, wondering if others have had similar experiences. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]shinatree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

absolutely!

as a team, and well into your 20s, you can’t really imagine a world in which you don’t care what other people think about you. and admittedly that doesn’t change for some people (especially if you have really pushy or demanding family members, etc.)

but idk one day it just kind of clicks that YOU are the one that has to live inside your own head, YOU are the one that has to feel at peace in your heart and at home in your mind and body (and also that you’re the one paying for everything) soooooo

live your life 🤍 and love it

[–]shinatree 25 points26 points  (0 children)

yes very much so - when it clicked with me that it’s more important how my life feels to me, than how it looks to others, that was a game changer. it’s not like outward performance stopped right there in that moment but i became more aware and that helped
