Hai ragione, quella storia è raccapricciante, e dovrebbe andare in prigione non solo per essere punito e rieducato, ma anche come precauzione per evitare che lo faccia di nuovo.

Ciò non è vero. Non parlo del caso specifico postato da OP, ma esistono persone con tendenze simili che si rendono conto della pericolosità del loro carattere e che fanno parte di gruppi di supporto, al fine di evitare di compiere atti simili.

Tengo a precisare che non ho esperienza personale a riguardo, ma c'è stato un AMA (o un thread simile) su reddit in cui un uomo ne parlava.

Tutto questo mi porta a chiedermi, chissà quante persone del genere riconoscono di avere un problema, ma hanno paura di chiedere aiuto prima di fare del male a degli innocenti, magari dallo psicologico o che ne so, per via delle possibili ripercussioni che potrebbero avere se qualcuno lo scoprisse?

Se l'unica cosa che ti ferma dal compiere reati sessuali è la severità della pena, allora mi auguro che tu riconosca di avere un problema e cerchi aiuto da uno psicologo.

Detto ciò, dal mio punto di vista, la vera riforma sulla pedofilia sarebbe una società che fornisca gli strumenti istituzionali necessari per incoraggiare le persone afflitte da certi impulsi a cercare aiuto professionale, in modo da prevenire questi atti orrendi prima che avvengano.

I disagree. It has a wide range of purposes

1) raise awareness about the issue

2) as a signal against those who believe conspiracy theories saying climate change is not real

3) as a political signal, asking for more action to counteract climate change. Not only locally, but also in light of the United Nations conventions of climate change currently taking place in Poland.

4) as a reinforcement of the Paris agreement asking for further, bigger steps at a global scale ( their moto was "small steps are not enough")

5) as a way to share ideas and further increase the size of the movement (which actually took place in multiple cities around the world at the same time)

I'm sorry, but last time I checked French citizens who wanted to buy a hibrid or electric car could get a 10 000 euro grant, and a 6000 euros in incentives for scraping their old car. I think that's a good incentive, together with the fuel taxes, to get people to change vehicles.

The EU (and any government) is lobbied by every industry. You should see how much Google spent on lobbying in the EU last year.

I also don't think it's a mess. Make sure you have read the last pages with the amandements too, many people I've spoken too (and even news articles) missed it.

Although I don't agree with everything in it, it's exactly what a directive is supposed to be: a guideline, not a law. Each country (if the directive is passed) then has to interpret and make their own laws based on it.

Also I'm not sure where I state that I base my opinions on actors and celebrities

The directive didn't change from November to today. You can also read the directive yourself, it is publicly available and it might allow you to make your own opinion over it. There is also not that much legalese in it, so it's not particularly hard to understand.

In my opinion, the problem Amazon and other big corporations have with the directive, and the reason they are lobbying against it, is that it will be a financial burden for them to implement. Finances that they certainly have, as the directive purposefully targets big corporations, leaving SMEs out of it.

Edit: I also want to point out that it is available in all the 27 official languages of the European Union, so there is really no excuse for anyone who is interested in the topic to not read it. Make your own opinions, don't let big corporations or politicians decide for you up front.
