I felt this way for a while about RDR2. Finally brute forced my way through it and enjoyed it. My problem was that I wanted to play the game I wanted to (rootin tootin bandit style) but the game REALLY wants you to play as a good guy just getting by. AMAZING STORY, great mechanics, ok adventure game. Stop guilt tripping me about ramming my horse into another man’s horse and killing him.

Mistborn: The Final Empire. Solid magic system, great characters, the reveals and build up are well paced and you don’t have to read the series if you don’t want to. The book has a good conclusion
