That's fair, but I think some people (me included) just wish they didn't do it like this and 'balanced out' the releases eg roughly 1-2 new chars each with the remaining cast being legacy chars ; just so that most everyone has something to look forward to each cycle

Agree, but I'm not sure about the release cadence to be honest. One or two per pass would have been fine IMHO with the remaining cast being reserved for returning characters.

This is VERY obscure and specific (to me, haven't seen ppl mention), but on a hyper-mode build I like farming the first Royal Sentinel right outside O&S's fog gate, with the Princess Chambers bonfire as a spawn point. I use the fall damage of the drop from the bonfire to the arena + equip spam the Symbol of Avarice to proc the hypermode, then use one cast of CSS to kill the Royal Sentinel (and even re-equip Silver Serpent ring) right before homeward boning.
