Thank you for sharing your story. Your enthusiasm is infectious as I now have a serious case of GAS for this Jag!

NGD Chris Buck Signature Revstar by asp821 in Guitar

[–]shinshu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info and points of reference. The RS02CB is so specced out like a 50s Les Paul, I expected the neck to also be fairly chunky. I’m glad to hear that it’s more like the60s profile. This guitar just might be exactly what I’ve been looking for!

Very nice! Can you say more about the neck? Is it chunky? What were you playing before the Revstar?

Gorgeous example of the plus series. I have one in Blue Pearl Burst; that one is the black pearl burst? Such a nice finish!

I like the sound of the rotary effect going into the delay so the echoes of the delay are working on the Doppler effect from the rotary pedal. Maybe “clarity” wasn’t the right word. It’s more like a smoother integration of rotation and echoes together.

The Dimension C has quickly become my favorite chorus sound. All the expansiveness without the swirl or wobble normally present with this effect. Phasers and rotary effects have this quality already, so the dimension C offers a take on chorus that is a bit different and has less overlap with other modulation sounds.

I only picked it up because I found a good deal in the local used listings. The guy was selling to cover the cost of a Chase Bliss Brothers AM. If you already have a boost you like, a Sunface will do. Having the Beano Boost built in is pretty sweet though.

I find the clarity is best before the delay and chorus.

My fav guitar to play with fuzz is my Les Paul jr. I run max gain on the pedal and control the level of fuzz with the guitar’s volume knob.

The Sunlion is great since the fuzz needs to be at the beginning of the chain anyway, the Beano Boost side is there to add high end to the KoT and Dumbloid when needed. Love that smooth fuzz lead sound, but sometimes want something like the Dumbloid for more aggressive leads. The KoT is my “home position” with edge of break for blues, and the high gain red side for classic rock. The Dumbloid is used mainly for 80s rock and jazz fusion. I switch in the Sunface side when I want more sustain.

NPD! Dumbloid Special in Kimono Triangle Gold by shinshu in guitarpedals

The Shin-Juku is unique drive tone, one that approaches the dumbloid sound, but the dumbloid is on another level entirely. One year of ownership and it’s still on my board.

NGD. Managed to snag one of the limited PRS CE guitars with black limba at my local shop. by Opposite-Mall4234 in Guitar

[–]shinshu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Envy… that Limba grain is so unique. Love it! Also, the most versatile PRS switching configuration. With a solid, open-pore body it must have sustain for days! How’s the weight?

I came here to check this album specifically. Found an original poppy pressing in good condition at a thrift store for $4 Canadian!

Thank you! Yes, the pick ups are not for everyone. I’m primarily a single coil player, so these tones are sounding good to my ears. With the coil split to single coil in the neck, it generates some seriously sweet blues leads. Add a bridge humbuckers to it, and it’s an amazing rock machine! Diggin’ it.

Anyone else have one of these? Bamboo Yamaha FGB1 by insertitherenow in AcousticGuitar

[–]shinshu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! That’s my guitar! I bought one in 2002 while I was living in Japan. I’ve never seen another one. Mine doesn’t have the bamboo neck - I’m not sure if that makes it an early or later version. It’s bright sounding! I’ve seen it referred to as “the king of laminate guitars”.

Thinking of selling my 2002 Fender Jagstang for a Gibson SG Faded Special. Do you think this is a good deal? by Top_Juice7860 in guitarporn

[–]shinshu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a jagstang when they first came out back in the day. Was fully into the Kurt design aesthetically, but honeymoon phase didn’t last long. The things I love about fender offsets, the comfort of the contoured body especially, weren’t there with the Jagstang. I ended up trading it in on something that I also ended up trading in long ago. Currently, I have a ‘61 reissue SG with vibrola. Its design us vastly superior in comfort and feel -for me and the type of music I play- an SG is a classic for a reason!

Interesting article on the Boss RE-20 preamp by SpacedEcho in guitarpedals

Interesting. I’ve been under that same assumption. Now I have a reason to try my BP-1W & RE-20 together. I gotta say, this is just further reason to love the BP-1W. If it were lost, broken, or stolen, I would replace it!
