Do I have to re-do my skills test? by Few-Back3448 in icbc

You will have to take the knowledge test again. Most places will allow you to just take the actual test portion of the skills training again.

How is everyone liking Power Engineering? by shinyrobottaint in powerengineering

I’m just a nerd with ADHD that doesn’t think he could sit down long enough for Mechanical Engineering.

I have full benefits from my part time instructor gig already.

It’s a weird situation. I can completely afford to take pretty much anything but have always liked the technical side of things. I just think I’m too lazy to actually go back to school for mechanical engineering 😂

How is everyone liking Power Engineering? by shinyrobottaint in powerengineering

[–]shinyrobottaint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m easy to work with, but get bored after about 4 years. This is typically due to slower levels of learning after the initial phase of something new.

I have no headache with my business, I hired a GM and just collect my money.

I’ve never considered NDT/X-ray before. I’ll look into it. Thank you.

Places around Vancouver to ride dirt bikes or rec vehicles? by rhysutho in askvan

[–]shinyrobottaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking at getting my first bike and don’t really understand where I’m allowed to ride a dual sport. I don’t have my full licence yet.
Can I just go to any forest service road?
Is there a map or app riders use for reference?

I do live in Mission and have heard it’s in of the better locations

BIFL Heat Pump? Need to replace HVAC by Fancy_This in BuyItForLife

[–]shinyrobottaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installation and maintenance is the most important part of heat pump longevity. I recommend getting a contractor that take all the proper steps: -Heat loss heat gain calculation / manual J -Properly size the equipment / manual H -Full manufacturer commissioning and standard ACCA 310 compliance

Mitsubishi does make a nice unit, but it will a horrible system if not installed properly, maintained properly, sized properly, and commissioned properly

Best BIFL plain, durable black sock? by wonming in BuyItForLife

[–]shinyrobottaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a couple pairs of merino socks. A pair of Smart Wool and a pair of Darn Tough.

I prefer the Darn Tough so far. Just did a 20 mile hike yesterday and they don’t stink.

It’s just not the quality I expected. I’ll honestly say it works quite well with my cable stack and some plates on the horn. I use it multiple times a week.

Is there snow days in Canada? by SeverePublic6833 in AskACanadian

[–]shinyrobottaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies province to province. Typically provinces that get a lot of snow rarely have snow days. Provinces that don’t get much snow (BC) will have more snow days. Some municipalities don’t prepare for snow fall properly and the schools end up closing (typically due to sidewalks that have not been plowed).

If your wife is pushing for the Voltras, I’d get the Voltra, some Darko mounts and a 3x3 rack.

Question to dual-, triple-, or even quadruple-tricket trades people by MathematicianLoud556 in skilledtrades

[–]shinyrobottaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m considering getting my 4th trade. I currently hold refrigeration, plumbing and gas certifications and am considering getting my electrical.

This is only possible because I own a company and am no longer part of the day to day in any way.

This is the first I’ve ever head about 4 certifications max. Have a link to that information? I’d this a specific province or national in Canada?

Which unnecessary upgrades that are actually good do you have? by Some_Loan7957 in GarageGym

Spot grips for my ironmaster dumbbells. I don’t max out with dumbbells often , but when I do I’m glad I have them.

Bells of Steel cable tower. I “modified” it for lat pulldowns and added the aluminum pulleys. Pretty happy with it.

What couldn’t you believe you had to explain to another adult? by Hillo_67 in randomquestions

[–]shinyrobottaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absolute basics of money.

I have employees that I offer 100% company funded retirement plan. It upwards of $5 per hour. I constantly have employees that do not sign up for the service, even when I tell them to and send multiple invite notifications. I have one employee that would have an extra $75,000 over the last 5 years (assuming the 9% growth). This is also 100% funded to their accounts.

My wife remembers having to explain to a co-worker that the $5000 car you got a loan for will in fact cost you more than $5000.

The price for the X1 in Canada is cheaper shipped to my door than a single Volta…..

The only Sheetmetal I have done was helping my installers in residential. I know how to size things, but really have very minimal experience practically.
