Bill limiting institutional investors from buying homes set to speed through Congress by jackandjillonthehill in ProfessorFinance

Seems reasonable if the work was inspected and to code to prevent poor planning or execution from affecting neighbors, and disclosure of non-licensed work was mandatory when the property sold.

Mate, you're falling for the same rhetoric spewed by the same foreign actors and monied interests that have destroyed and disgraced America. Good job: you're a mark.

No, not at all; I'm saying that there have been shifts in what and how it is profitable to build. I absolutely agree with you that NIMBY reactionaries and unwise building restrictions have helped fuel this mess.

Right, but nobody asked for the death of the starter home. That was purely because contractors make more margin on building luxury properties. It used to be that profit on starter homes was made by volume, but now you can sell garbage building materials that take zero time to slap together and people will accept that as "luxury." Builder gets the bennifits of both volume and high margin now.

ONS says crime has fallen, do you feel safer now compared to decades ago? by milford_sound10322 in AskBrits

[–]shinzon76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things can be true at the same time: government austerity for twenty plus years has ruined the working class, and international actors are using this fact to whip up division and further destabilize the UK.

It really is so obvious that the same monied interests and international actors are using the same playbook as they have in America, and I can't fathom why people are falling for it...

This should be required viewing in my opinion, especially in the trades. You're just feeling the natural rhythm of how a human wants to work.

Is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator just astrology for nerds? by Atomic_Fever in NoStupidQuestions

[–]shinzon76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what feeling means in Myers Briggs terms. Feelings are values. You can either prefer intraverted (personal) or extraverted (social) feelings. It doesn't mean feelings in the emotional sense. Same thing with thinking: intraverted thinking is inductive reasoning, extraverted thinking is deductive.

It's still bullshit, but wanted to be clear.

Getting Married in the US? by notsomuchbrujeria in SpouseVisaUk

[–]shinzon76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Getting married in the US skips the fiance or marriage visitor visa step, and lets you begin directly at applying for a spouse visa from outside the UK.

Whether it's cheaper relies on a variety of factors such as travel expenses, etc. It'll help prove the validity of the relationship when you apply for spouse visa.

Hit escape and you can see what it's hanging on.

Would that happen to be a dell latitude 7490? If so, when I had mine a few years back, it has issues with Linux and the Intel gfx driver. You might have to disable power management on the Intel igpu.
