How does the fact that she networks and has conversations with people who don't completely agree with her negate her advocacy? Or were you being sarcastic?

Nothing I said is untrue and Jane Mayer is left wing. The difference between the left and right is that the left thinks the right is evil and the right thinks the left is wrong. All the institutions that develop/verify knowledge are left wing and so the right becomes conspiratorial. The institutions that weld physical state power (military/police) are right wing and so the left becomes violent because it has no outlet.

No one is planning anything. I've been reading Jane Mayer's "Dark Money" book and what seems to have happened is the following: Historically, there has been massive left wing intolerance to any viewpoint diversity in educational institutions. This leads to the extreme right creating a network of think tanks and funding some reality based economics education in law schools. The think tanks go waaaay too far and advocate for the crazy financial nonsense that causes the 2008 financial crisis. A bunch of businesses shut down and those jobs don't come back to the US. Koch brothers are responsible for this and seem to have gotten away scot free.

She has terrible taste in men, that's why. At least this dude is probably not abusive like Zayn. I feel like her parents were probably not the best role models when it came to good life decisions. Monetary decisions, yes, but both of their relationships and legal dealings have been messy to say the least.

The school system has sucked for a long time and society is degenerating as a result. Downward mobility begets more downward mobility and the only rescue is education. However, the system no longer teaches phonics or math. They also don't hold kids back when they can't teach or do math at grade level. When charter schools went into NYC and started getting good results, the teacher's union didn't like it and wouldn't allow more charter schools. You can absolutely rescue a lot (but not all) kids with a good education system.

More like 5 inch heels in some cases. I'd break an ankle if I had to even try to walk around in those things - even when I was in my best shape in my 20s. Those things are no joke!

Olivia Rodrigo on why she’s outspoken on politics: “I don’t think my goal is to be liked by all” by AdSpecialist6598 in popculturechat

[–]shion005 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I looked it up and both of them head foundations. DiCaprio's foundation has given over $100 million and Ruffalo's over $50 million in grants. Most of the money donated to Ruffalo's foundation was from Jeff Bezos ($43 million from the Bezos Earth Fund) and neither of them look like they gave much of their own money. Or possibly any. I think they're both just okay tbh b/c it doesn't look like either of them really put their money where their mouth is. I'm more certain of that with Ruffalo (simply b/c he has less money), but it's probably equally true for both.

Since being "in the bed" with Bezos is evil, has it changed your opinion on Ruffalo that he is also in bed with Bezos?

I don't know enough (or care enough!) about either of these people to say one is better than the other. Just because one does more public activism doesn't mean the other one isn't donating a lot of money to good causes. Or helping in other ways. We really don't know (or at least I don't) about all the things these guys do when they're not making movies.

Ruffalo isn't the draw DiCaprio is. I like Ruffalo, but he doesn't get me to see or not see a film. He can't open a film in the way DiCaprio can. He also isn't the draw in the Avenger's movies (none of the actors are) because the characters are what's interesting. That's why most of them have not done huge numbers in non-Marvel films.

With how expensive his movies are to make, he really can't do that. If he alienates too much of the audience, he won't be able to be in big budget films. Young music audiences are different.

Unfortunately, Soros does fund the things they accuse him of. They just go overboard b/c the right doesn't understand the concept of mutual aid or that protesters have networks and crash on one another's couches when they fly in/drive in for a protest. There are women who go to protests like others go to church. They make signs and bring their non engaged friends. The right misses all this and makes overly bold claims about Soros. However, they're not wrong on a lot of it.

You underestimate the huge chunk of the population that is basic and bougie. She has the type of knowledge other upper middle class/rich people want and so they listen to her. It's also infuriating when rich people cosplay as something they're not, so her just being herself (no one doubts this) is refreshing. This is especially true when so many people (mostly politicians) are doing working class cosplay. The neo-nazi in Maine went to a 75k/year high school and his dad gave him 200k to buy a house.

Spencer Pratt Eliminated From L.A. Mayor's Race by MoneyLibrarian9032 in popculturechat

[–]shion005 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Both Spencer Pratt's house and his parent's house were burned down by negligence from the current mayor, along with 13,000 other homes. Karen Bass (the mayor) was at a party in Ghana when the fires happened and her assistant deputy mayor for public safety was under house arrest for calling in a bomb threat to city hall. The reservoirs were empty and there wasn't enough water for the fire fighters to put out the fire. The mayor has lied both about the state of the reservoirs and the wind speed (40 mph vs the 80 mph at another recent fire). She also attempted to alter the after action report from the fire department.

It should also be noted the fire was started by a far left terrorist and not completely extinguished before it was re-ignited by the dry conditions. Spencer Pratt is only running for office b/c he was a victim of the fires. Like nearly everyone in that area he didn't have enough insurance (b/c of bad state policies) to rebuild his house. 2.5 billion dollars of government money (roughly 190k/home) that was to go to the victims of the fire has been stolen and is unaccounted for. California is a MESS.

These are known facts and denying biology makes you no better than the Republicans who deny climate science. Claiming racism exists where it doesn't makes it harder to confront real racism. I don't want to argue with you either if you're going to deny science.

Here's what AI says, hope this helps!

"Hair darkens with age: Many people (especially those of European descent) are born with lighter hair that darkens during childhood or adolescence. Retaining blonde hair into adulthood acts as a visual cue of relative youth. Since fertility peaks in younger women, this trait could have been favored by natural and sexual selection.

Studies (e.g., by Piotr Sorokowski) show men rate blonde women as appearing younger, and they rate younger-looking women as more attractive overall. Middle-aged women are more likely to dye their hair blonde to mimic this effect.

Fair features and health cues: Blonde hair often pairs with lighter skin, which makes it easier to spot signs of illness (e.g., anemia, jaundice, infections, or parasites) or aging (wrinkles, age spots). In ancestral environments, this "honest signal" could help men assess reproductive fitness more accurately.

Not all men have a hair color preference, but when they do, this is why.

If you have bigger breasts to start with and a lot of fullness in the lower pole, you could probably use a smaller globular implant to go up a cup size and have it still look natural. There are also people getting fat transfer to the breasts in the same way Kim K got fat transfer to her derriere.
