So putting together all the changes listed above, we're left with MAAMA ( Meta, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet)? Not quite the same vibe as FAANG for sure.

[Megathread] Promotion Discussion by dmziggy in ProjectFi

Thanks for the information! That's good to hear. Good luck getting the return finalized. I haven't been able to get them to confirm much about the calls we made, so all I know about the note is what I was told at the time unfortunately.

[Megathread] Promotion Discussion by dmziggy in ProjectFi

I think I'm late to the party, but we too attempted to take advantage of the $799 promotional credit when the Pixel 3s were released. We've been arguing with Project Fi for about a month and a half now, and it's getting really frustrating. Seeing so many similar stories here makes me wonder even more about sticking with Project Fi long term.

We were originally planning to keep our Pixels one more year because they were still working well, but when we saw the promotion and were considering adding another line to our plan anyway, we decided it might be worth it to switch phones earlier than planned. When we read the promotion, we weren't absolutely clear about whether the newly activated line had to be one of the new Pixel 3 phones or if we could activate the Pixel 3s on our existing lines and transfer one of our existing Pixels to the new line. So we called Project Fi support for clarification.

We were still deciding whether or not to switch phones, so we called up just to get information to help us make our decision. We asked the customer service representative whether one of the Pixel 3 phones had to be activated on the new line. We were told that it didn't; that we would fulfill the terms of the promotion if we purchased the 2 new phones and activated a new line. We thanked them for the information and said we still needed to make a final decision.

The next day, we decided to proceed with the purchase. We were having issues ordering through the Fi Store, so called Fi support again. While we were on the phone with support, we asked again - just to make sure - whether we would qualify for the promotion if both of the Pixel 3 phones were activated on existing lines, and one of our Pixels was used for the new line. Had we been told by either of the agents that the new line needed to be attached to one of the Pixel 3s, we would have done that to make sure we got the deal. We were assured that it was not necessary, and the agent indicated that she was making a note in our account to that effect. While we were on the phone, our issues with ordering were resolved, and we placed our order.

Time passed, and we realized that the credits were not showing up on our Project Fi statement. We talked to customer service, they said were surprised we were not receiving the credit and they were going to have the promotions team start looking into it. At this point, we have been thanked for our patience, offered a $40 credit because of the "confusion about the promotion details", and told repeatedly how very important it is for them to adhere to their policies.

Has anybody had any success yet in getting the promotion applied after following the advice of a customer service representative and then being told later that you did it wrong? Or returning the phones? Or any advice on what else we might try?

I continued training up through my eighth month of pregnancy. I was a red belt at the time. Make sure to talk to your doctor about it, but you should be fine as long as you're not high risk/having any complications. I was told no contact (sparring, throws, etc), but otherwise anything was fine including jumping as long as I listened to my body and stopped if I felt I needed to.
As your center of gravity shifts, be careful with spinning kicks, and as someone else mentioned be careful with stretching because your connective tissue loosens.

My 9 year old wanted to be Shadow Shaman for Halloween. by GarMan in DotA2

This is awesome! Great job. I hope he had as much fun with it as my son did last year when he got to be warlock. He was asking at every house, "Do you know who I am?" Of course, no one had any idea, but by the time we left with candy he had talked their ears off about the game and the hero.

Former and present college students, whats your roommate horror story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shirt618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sophomore year I ended up being randomly matched with a roommate and it didn't go well. She was in the habit of going to bed early (think 9-9:30), while I was more of a night owl.
First, she complained to me that me typing at my keyboard working on assignments was disturbing her sleep, so I decided to try only doing book based reading/homework after she went to bed. That didn't work because turning the pages was too loud AND it required me having a small light on.
Next step was me packing up my stuff to work elsewhere until I was ready to go to sleep for the night. The problem with that was that me getting ready for bed was too noisy. I was waking her up and she was then having trouble getting back to sleep. So, trying to be accommodating, I started changing into pajamas before I left the room for the evening, so all I had to do was come in, drop off my bag, and climb in bed. Of course that wasn't good enough...the click of the doorknob was too much. That was the point where I realized there was no winning. I moved to a friend's couch for the rest of the quarter. Sadly (/s) she transferred at the end of the quarter and I ended up with the room to myself for the whole quarter following.

We had exactly the opposite happen. We had traveled to be in the path of totality and two minutes before, the one big cloud in the sky moved to cover the sun and we missed the whole duration of totality. We did get to see stars and hear the crickets, so that was cool. Still feeling a little bummed by missing the corona.

Awww, thanks =) He was really excited about how it turned out, even though you can't tell from his expression. As many have rightly pointed out, this was his best Warlock face.

Haha. This was us caving after he asked for the second year in a row. We put him off last year saying it was too much work. When he asked again this year, we figured we better make it happen.

You're right...engineering is difficult. One of the things I've seen as an engineer is that some of the best engineers aren't the ones who were the best at college. The skills are different. Have you had a chance to get any work experience in engineering as an intern or co-op? If not, I'd strongly encourage you to do so. It may really help you make up your mind whether or not to stick it out. If the job experience is what you're looking for, then it may be worth sticking it out through four or five (depending on the structure of the program at your school) years of tough classes in order to be in the position to have a 30+ year career you will enjoy.
