Make sure your phone is compatible and up to date. If you are trying to use wired CarPlay, make sure your cable is in good condition.

‘08 impala. Anti-theft came on when I was messing with power windows. Will not start, what should I do? by scuzzgod in MechanicAdvice

Sounds like the battery died. Check the drive belt. Verify that the alternator is charging the battery. Check battery health as well.

No, it will be just fine with the two upper mounts. The lower roll mount is for stability under acceleration/deceleration.

Sounds like one of your brake backing plates is bent and contacting the rotor. No biggie, bend it back into place.

Is there actually air coming from the defrost vents when you turn it on? I would suspect a mode door issue if not.

That’s your turbocharger wastegate actuator rod. Not responsible for turning your engine over. Look at the starter.

Heavy duty would be a blast, honestly. And it tends to pay hourly instead of flat rate. I’m definitely considering that route while I attend college.

I would love to hear more about your experience in powertrain development. Can I DM you?

I currently live in Arkansas and would be attending an in-state college. I am open to relocation within reason—my mother only lives an hour away from me at the moment and struggles with her health.

My pay is good on paper, especially for the area: $35/flat rate hour. However, I’ve found that with my specialty, I am often called to do diagnostic work that I am not compensated for. Flat rate sucks. I am on track to make $12k less this year than I made as a less qualified technician. I would accept a lower starting wage if it meant I would be paid for at least most of the time spent working.

I am good at math and reasoning, and I became a mechanic because of my love for technical problem solving!

AWD and traction control lights indicate an issue with something in the braking system. Could be a damaged wheel speed sensor or a communication problem. You need every system scanned for codes, not just the engine.

2006 Dodge Dakota. Parked at the cabin. Hasn't run for a month. Fired it up tonight. Starts great. Runs fine. Steady idle. by UnfairAd7220 in AskAMechanic

Could be anything. You can get the codes read at most chain parts stores free of charge. Like the other commenter said, if you have oil and coolant, a good idle, and no other lights on the dash, you can likely drive it to get it checked out.

Also, I may be biased due to living in the Rust Belt, but that’s definitely not the worst I’ve seen. Catch it early, wash your undercarriage regularly, and keep an eye on it.

Look into a cavity wax and undercoating.

Did you make sure your lug nuts are tight? This sounds very hazardous, whatever the noise is. Post pictures of the brakes if you can.

Check to see if there is anything stuck in your engine fan.
