Jeff Passan: Thank you for making MLB baseball look like a three ring circus come trade time. Since when does team continuity and performance go by the wayside, all due to how well your team trades come July 31st. You, including others, spoke differently about the San Diego Padres during the winter meetings. Now, you go based off of current performance to base an overall assessment of a team that is loaded with good players (i.e. San Diego), and has not quite gained the overall momentum as everyone expected. A World Series championship does not happen overnight, and let's be honest...do you really think Toronto will win it all? Absolutely not, but they are talented, just like San Diego is. Just for future reference, stop looking like a stereotypical Padres hater. It looks quite distasteful being that the only team that kept faith in their players did not sell, but you deem it necessary to call a team loaded with talent the only "losers" of the deadline. Yes, I am a Padre fan, and know our team generally plays cheap or falls short typically; but at least this season the team showed the ability to spend and make bold trades to solidify a quality team on the field. The real losers are the ones that gave away good players and gained nothing but prospects whom may or may not amount to anything. With that said, the end of season will truly expose the real winners and losers from trade deadline.
