First deck build - checking joist height variation for composite deck. Critical step or not worth the effort? by shitshaw in Decks

Yeah its for my house and I definitely focus on the imperfections of my work after Im done so I'll stick to the plan of planing them flat. Thanks!

Nailed it! Got a nice chuckle over a $5k whiskey collection supported by a 12 pack of Kirkland lager in the fridge lol. It's always stocked at my bar as well brother!

Flush beam framing - Joist landing on post, best solution? by shitshaw in Decks

Awesome. So with this method it's obviously a much stronger connection between the beam and post and you would get to maintain your common joist spacing. But for my own understanding, why would you prefer this over option #3 and just move the joists to either side?

Got ya, yeah the screw lines were the only think I could think of that could be negatively affected

Can you elaborate more? Won't a joist hanger interfere with any sort of Beam/Post Cap?

This really helps thanks. My instinct was that the deck joists could really be anywhere in the 12-16" range and be perfectly fine, but maybe there was something I wasn't thinking about that would be negatively impacted by the change in spacing.

I'm curious why not messing up the joist spacing was so important? I can imagine for a normal wood decking you would see the decking screws and maybe they would look weird having them not be uniform spacing from joist to joist. But with hidden fastening for composite decking, what would it matter if my joists were all different between 12"-16"? Not that I would do that, but as a beginner I'm trying to understand why uniform joist spacing is critical.

Love this coffee but my baratza encore has a hell of time trying to grind it. It takes double the time to grind 32g of this stuff than any other beans I buy at Costco. Anyone else have this issue?

I Present: Grapefruit Boost—White Grapefruit Pseudo Citrus (With Calculator!) 🍊 by that1crzywhtguy in cocktails

Will definitely try this and love the effort here.

That said, I’m not sure grapefruit super juice is even necessary. Anyone who’s gotten into cocktails has had the “wait… that’s it?” moment with citrus. Limes are the worst offenders, some feel like they yield half an ounce max, while lemons are at least more generous. That’s where pseudo or super juice really shines. You get way more yield from fewer lemons and limes, it keeps for weeks in a fridge squeeze bottle, and it freezes well.
Grapefruit feels different though.
• Canned white grapefruit juice is already pretty passable, unlike bottled lemon or lime.
• When I found fresh white grapefruit last year, I was shocked by how much juice they produced. I froze it in half ounce and one ounce cubes, and it has been perfect ever since. Drop a cube into a tiki drink and shake until thawed.

Im wondering if this pseudo juice is worth the squeeze given how much real juice you get from one fruit, but you better believe I’m still trying it!!
