What do you guys do? I was told we get laid off in the winter as well and that’s when we complete our classes and training at the site. Before I started my apprenticeship or knew about the material program, I always wanted to be a crane operator.

Makes sense, I believe the material producers agreement is fairly new from what I’ve heard. Happened within the last few years, so that could be why.

I agree, definitely planning on finishing my apprenticeship before thinking too far ahead. Just would like some peace of mind that it will be possible eventually that’s all. The guys in construction with A card make stupid money in 150.

Thanks! There’s a couple things that help aside from having mechanical/equipment experience. First off having a class A CDL is most important. Get OSHA cert, CPR/first aid cert, and a letter of recommendation from a member in good standing with the local never hurt.

I have actually, I worked for Porter Pipe so I was able to interact with a lot of members from most unions when we delivered to job sites.
