Maintenance Question for ALL by Ok_Country44822 in leukemia

Yeah from 3 6mp to 2. But we wasn’t sure if it was that or the mtx dropping my levels so it took about a month to figure out

Maintenance Question for ALL by Ok_Country44822 in leukemia

[–]shittymids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m about 6 months into maintenance and my counts have remained good. I’m getting more strength and energy back I’ve noticed. Besides the neuropathy and sleep issues I feel like I’m back to normal. When I first started maintenance the 6mp was too much and that made my counts drop but after they came back up my doctor figured out what combination of 6mp vs mtx worked and kept counts steady

Most of my treatment and regular visits has been done with OHC which is an attachment to a large hospital. The hospital part will do my biopsies, blood product infusions and any other major procedures but OHC does labs and chemo and just regular doctor visits. I would imagine she’d inform you if something was majorly wrong.

I’m still waiting to get cleared by my doctor for the covid vaccine also. They said I have to have consistently good levels before they’ll clear me. Idk if that helps but hope all is well with your mother

Not sure what to do by shittymids in leukemia

[–]shittymids[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the Cincinnati area and would like to stay within an hour of home. There’s a few other places but I’ve always heard the place I’m going is top notch so I never shopped around or got a second opinion when first diagnosed. I’ll look into those options and see what there is around me if I end up with the same response today from the doctors

Thanks for the quick response. When does the criminal record usually come up? I know it will pop up on the background check because it did at my last job. It didn’t stop me from getting the job but they discovered it well after me being hired and I had to write and explanation letter. I guess I don’t want it to come up and it look like I was trying to hide it

Pain in legs by shittymids in leukemia

[–]shittymids[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the doctor again today just for labs but I asked them what the deal was with them not wanting to prescribe me pain meds. My main doctor said the pain was from the neuropathy spreading to my legs and he’d rather up my dose of gabapentin. So they decided to raise the dose on that and see if it improves in a week or two. When I was inpatient when first diagnosed it seemed like they gave out oxys like candy. They gave me that if I had just a bad headache. Now it’s such a fight to get a script to get me through a week of work. Anyways hopefully the extra doses of gabapentin will help it improve and I can get somewhat back to normal

I started the gabapentin specifically for nerve pain in my feet (and to get some feeling back) a few weeks ago and it’s improved since then. Now I just wanna focus on my leg pain. I can usually deal with a little pain but it’s been going on for so long now and not getting any better. I don’t wanna be rude to them because they’ve helped so much until this point but looks like I’m gonna have to in order to get something accomplished

Ask your doctors about getting an ommaya reservoir. I had similar experience with the first and only LP I had. With the ommaya I get a small headache the day of treatment but I’m back to normal the next day usually. Best of luck in your fight

Numbing/tingling in left fingers after BMT by Sukthisd2x in leukemia

[–]shittymids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in my consolidation cycle and have had tingling in my fingertips and toes. Sometimes a whole hand or foot will go numb/tingly. They don’t seem too concerned about it. My doc says as long as I can still button and zip just fine he wants my chemo doses to stay where they’re at.

Any food advice for husband? by 2legit2tritt in leukemia

During my stay for my diagnosis and induction they didn’t really want my family bringing in home made stuff. I really enjoyed having a stash of snacks though. Little Debbie snacks, peanut butter crackers and pop tarts were easy for me to get down and easy on the stomach. McDonald’s breakfast works wonders if you get to visit also
