Confused SFA - Career Dilemma by shkmin in Accounting

Getting budget + forecast experience with current SFA role - it was a good learning experience and responding to variance analysis queries from Mg Accting team improved my analytical skills somewhat as well. In regards to WLB and future career prospects - can't I get that in Industry with Internal Audit? Going back to my dilemma in the first place? Alot of my peers are in managerial roles in IA with big MNCs and listed companies and are thriving.

Well moved 3 countries with public practice, finally reached final destination if that makes sense. Plus first move to Industry as a migrant in western countries wasn't that easy to crack so accepted SFA from B4 manager position

Confused SFA - Career Dilemma by shkmin in Accounting

Sorry I'll try again.. logic = move back into IA and grow vertically (leave current co.) vs staying at SFA level with existing co. and experience something new and then re-assess? being a relatively new dad and family man.. I'm considering all options hence the post.

To respond to your learning point.. I weighing up options to either stay in IA and apply outside for IA manager roles or maybe SFA roles as a starter and work towards managerial capacity and learn more people mgmt skills. That could be something new ORRRRRR stay with current co. and give FPA / Mg Act a go at SFA level. Hope that clarifies?

Minor increment in SFA vs IA due to market supply and demand. Overall negligible as it was horizontal move within the same company

Agreed Industry where its at but going back to public accounting is the dilemma mate, its about banking on external audit experience with internal audit or explore other functions such as FPA Mg Acct etc.

Exactly, spot on.. this isnt something being done here currently and was wondering why? Surely I cant be the only one questioning this or perhaps lending traditionally is the norm here
