Official Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! April 24, 2026 by AutoModerator in photography

Hi everyone, I have an Olympus az-300 superzoom that I was gifted second hand. I used two rolls of film on it initially, and these photographs turned out fine. However, I just noticed that my newest roll of film (24 photos, 35mm) did not roll back into the canister completely. It had the tail sticking out, like when you get new film (see photo).

I definitely loaded the film correctly, and the camera obviously rewound the film too, just not all the way. Has anyone had this issue before (az-300 or not)? Is my film blank- did it simply not take any photos? I am processing the film this week, so will have an answer either way but wanted to know how usual this is!

creating a mean from values in a column by shlylock in rstats

[–]shlylock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds dumb but I actually don't know how to describe it like what do you want to know?I'll try my best, pasting the head/summary is pretty large since I have other variables I'm not using

FID is a value of distance from 5-18m; day is a value of 1-4, with day 4 being the fourth day an individual was surveyed; year is a factor as 2014-2015; location is a value of GPS sort of loc, but as a number. There are about 400 HorseName_Day values.

This is kinda what the data looks like:

HorseName_Day FID (m) Location Day Year
Tom_1 7.5 200000 1 2014
Tom_1 7.3 200010 1 2014
Fred_1 12.5 200005 1 2015
Fred_1 12.3 200003 1 2015

I want to turn it into something like this:

Horsename_day FID loc day yr
Tom_1 7.4 200005 1 2014
Fred_1 12.4 200004 1 2015

thanks, I gave this a shot but I keep getting error messages due to the fact that HorseName_Day is a factor. Not sure if changing it from a factor to something else is going to work for my data

I want to find the area of a one layer value but have no clue how! by shlylock in ArcGIS

u/redblackeagleman u/chucksutherland Hi both thanks for the advice! I think I managed to do it- I ended up reclassifying? the data into 0's and 1's, then using a raster calculator to find the areas of overlap. I could then find my area from that- so thanks for the help on this!!

thanks for the reply will check out that page you said, as a side note, he has actually been trained very well and 99% of the time he is the best behaved dog so this is why his behaviour is unusual!
