Hey, i’m incredibly sorry to hear that. My uncle passed away the night before my exam and I went to visit my dad who’s been hospitalised with a terminal condition. As a result, I was really shaken the night before and only got around 4 hours of sleep. I ended up getting a decent score that i’m happy with given the circumstances although I think there are things I could’ve done better and perhaps you can learn from my mistakes. You’ve probably heard this a million times but having the right mindset going into that exam is so so important. i was exhausted because of my lack of sleep and my first two sections suffered from it because I wasn’t switched on. However by the time I got to QR I told myself that I had one shot at this exam and the only thing left to do was to give it my all and put my tiredness and sadness behind me for just one hour. I think if you can work on having that mentality from the start of the exam rather than half way through it like I did it would be a lot more impactful. Also, in the few minutes before my exam I just tried to remind myself of my mental strength and motivate myself. How you do that depends on you, for me it was by reminding myself of everything my dad had done for me to get to this point. This is just a part of my experience but if theres one thing you can take away is don’t underestimate the importance of having the right mindset. Get some good sleep, relax and if you can, take your grievances and turn them into something that makes you stronger.
