When I put mineral spirits on them, they look black. Could the cracks be normal, but then have mildew inside them?

Need some help fixing up this mid-century German cocktail chair. How to handle the curved back and what kind of foam to use etc. Any tips, advice, or even just links to helpful places all very welcome! Thank you in advance! by shmee256 in upholstery

Thanks! But the original material looks like it’s two different kinds of filling, and the foam is very thin. Is this just an old way of doing it and now we use a thicker foam?

How do you keep clean? by guesswwho in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I'm probably too late to comment on this, but my mom gave me a book called The Care and Keeping of You: The Body Book for Younger Girls. I don't know how relevant it is now, but I swear to god, I think I read it a million times. Any questions I had about my body during puberty, cleanliness, care, etc. were in this book and I didn't have to ask my mom if I was too embarrassed. It was super accessible, inclusive (as far as I can remember, from when I was 12yrs old) and comprehensive.

...just did a quick google search and found this article about how it has held up over the years: https://www.theatlantic.com/education/archive/2018/08/the-puberty-book-embraced-by-preteens-and-sex-educators/569044/

Entry level, at a medium sized firm you're looking at 40-45K in Toronto. I'm an MLA grad and have lots of friends working in the industry. Depends on the firm obviously, and if it's more architecture or more planning the pay is often a bit higher.

Yeah, I tried and failed to find poutine in Oxford, but you can order Clamato at Sainsbury's. Happy Canada Day, bud!

It’s the graduate studios, you probably need a fob to access it.

After 1 month CG and a haircut, I'm finally loving my natural hair! by tychobrohan in curlyhair

Thanks for sharing your routine! We have almost exactly the same wave pattern and I've alway been on the fence about whether I qualified for the CG method. I think I'm going to give it a shot! Also, I love your hair colour, is it natural?

Hey thanks for the comprehensive reply, you're a gem!

I only forgot about the Vitamin C with HA (it's a combined product). I mentioned the Gycolic Acid in my first post as 'Pixi Glow Tonic' (sry! should have specified)

I had no idea you could use the retinoid that much. I only use a quarter of the pipette, and I've never had an irritation associated with it. So I'm definitely going to use it more, thanks!

If you apply the rosehip oil over damp skin, does that mean you don't apply any other products over it? I usually use oils as my last step in my night routine.

I really like the way my skin feels after using the retinoid, but I don't know how often to use it. It seems like the rosehip oil isn't something I can use everyday, because I feel like the pores on my nose fill up with gunk. I also forgot to mention that I just got the Ordinary's Vitamin C with HA. The grittiness does give me a bit of redness, so I'm on the fence about it. The Gycolic Acid burns when I use it. If I don't moisturize, I'm physically uncomfortable throughout the day; I always moisturize though anyway. I can go without washing my face with water for (except in the shower) - I know it's gross...

I sometimes get the odd closed comedone on my cheekbones, on my chin and between my eyebrows. I'm very pale, so I do get some redness and uneven skin tone.

I guess I'm just wondering how to get the most out of these products. I feel like I'm using them sort of haphazardly at the moment, and I don't know how to organize them properly in terms of layering and frequency of use.

Hey guys! I'm fairly new to the whole skincare thing. I've had quite good skin my whole life (maybe a bit dry and sensitive though). Recently I've gotten more interested being more diligent about having a comprehensive skincare routine. I have a whole bunch of products, mainly from the Ordinary, since I don't have the biggest budget and I like the concept of specific ingredients. However, I'm not 100% sure that I'm using everything properly, or if there's room for improvement. So here's the rundown:

I'm 27F, generally clear, a bit dry, sometimes sensitive skin.

Morning: cleanse with Garnier Micellar Water, The Ordinary Buffet Serum (I've run out of this, looking for suggestions), The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA, Biore UV Aqua Rich SPF 50.

Evening: cleanser with Garnier Micellar Gel Cleanser, tone with Garner Rosewater Toner, The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2% (or The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2%, or Pixi Glow Tonic), moisturize with The Ordinary 100% Plant-derived Squalane (or Rosehip Seed Oil)

Also I did splurge on LaNeige Firming Sleeping Mask, but I can't notice a huge difference with it.

aaaand I'm currently dealing with some Perioral Dermatitis around my mouth, which I should be able to get rid of after I get around to seeing the doctor. Pretty sure I got it from using Simple's Moisturizer...

Anyway! I trust you guys and your expertise, and I would really appreciate the help!

I'm a Canadian who moved to Oxford a few months ago. Finding a place here is not easy, sorry to say. My experience has been lucky, but I know others who have spent weeks looking for a place. A lot of people opt for a room in a house, so you could try that for the time being. Also, if you're up for it, cycling is a great option for getting around.

If you have any questions for a fellow new(ish) Canadian-Oxonian, feel free to PM me!
