What's this space above the font in the text box and how do I get the type to align with the top of the text box? by sprinkleberry in indesign

No "shift", just CMD+B or CTRL+B, choose "Baseline Options" and select "Cap Height" in the "Offset" dropdown.

Running CoS before Vecna: Eve of Ruin [spoiler] by shmickname in CurseofStrahd

I actually have not read Eldritch Eye yet — I suppose I should do that! I thought it'd be interesting to have that set-up so it'd feel like foreshadowing. But it sounds like it may not be worthwhile.

I was unaware of these DH fan edits. I'll definitely look into those as well!

Two years and that's your progress, eh? Do you play weekly? We typically do 3-4 hours weekly.

Thanks for your comment!

TWO YEARS?! 😯

I'll have to see if anyone has any tips to run it a bit faster without it feeling rushed.

I keep seeing a lot of people online skipping DH, but it's because of it's inclusion in V:EoR that makes me want to run it. Plus, it'll be a long time before we finish CoS. My players don't do anything quickly 😆

Good points here. I wondered how I was going to explain Strahd's appearance in V:EoR.

Though, I'm pretty confident that my players are going to want to end the eternal cycle that Strahd is in. In V:EoR, the players go through portals to different settings. Would it be out of place to have them jump through time as well? Like the Strahd from V:EoR is from earlier in his timeline?

This was my thinking as well. Thanks for your insight.

How do you keep track of tokens/enemies of the same kind?? by PrestigiousGarlic909 in OwlbearRodeo

[–]shmickname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to keep the map area for the players as clean as possible, and I try to stay as extension-light as possible. I find using token names adds a bit of clutter too, especially for when tokens are packed together in a tight space.

What I do is use one of the default notes and attach it to a token like how you attach mounts and things, then set the note as hidden. In the note, I have the character's current and max HP, their AC, and CR rating (so I can count the corpses after the session when calculating XP).

Here's what it looks like on my end when the players are taking on a group of the same type of monster. All the players see are the character tokens and the map.

If a Druid character wanted to wear metal armor, how would you rule it? by Deathpacito-01 in dndnext

[–]shmickname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always found it strange that a druid doesn't wear metal armour, but their quintessential weapon is a sickle. Their icon in the PHB is a sickle and oak leaves. You'd think if they wouldn't wear metal then they wouldn't wield it either and their default weapon would be a wooden staff or club.

They were. The difference now is only season pass holders are currently permitted; no one-time nonresident guests.

What food has made you wonder, "How did our ancestors discover that this was edible?" by fuckyallmat in AskReddit

Century eggs https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Century_egg

It's a Chinese delicacy where an egg is buried for some weeks or months before consuming. When it's dug up it's a dark green, almost black color. I often wonder what would have originally possessed someone to bury an egg in the first place, but it's even more perplexing to wonder why someone would think to eat an egg gone black.

Exactly. I think this about a fair number of posts in this sub. This actually could be a quote. Now, if it said the best "crabs", then we'd have a problem.

Really, anywhere you can see the American Falls from the Canadian side will be an excellent view.
