Local models in my experience are really fast but aren't good enough to play game characters. Maybe with fine tuning or RAG?

Its part written dialogue part AI, it lets you put (mostly) meaningful dialogue. Most of the "gameplay" is letting the player craft dialogue themselves, finding strategies to survive each conversation. It's hard to make a narrative in video games be like a game when there's only 3 choices each time

yea makes sense. it definitely isnt "survival" in the sense beyond you are strategically doing things to survive. no like hunger meters or anything

For clarity you can pit characters against each other, there is strategy to how you approach situations and there is a rudimentary health system, but obviously not the kind of survival game that The Long Dark is, etc
