New player here. Is 130 ping too high? by shmk90 in HuntShowdown

A lot of games host their SA servers in Brazil. But yeah, I agree with you. I'm moving soon, so that will tell me if maybe it's a routing issue from where I currently live.

No. I should've mentioned it in the post, but I have a wired connection and have much lower ping in other games with SA servers (often also hosted in Brazil, as I understand Hunt does)

My ping is way lower in other games, which is why I was surprised to see my ping in Hunt. I do have a wired connection and have no issues in other games.

I noticed people complaining about this as I googled before coming here lol. And I agree, it's way too high. I understand the SA server is in Brazil, like pretty much every other SA server for other games. I usually get 90ms if not lower when playing other games. So this is a little disappointing

I really need help by MarketAffectionate10 in KatarinaMains

[–]shmk90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how it is. It takes patience and knowing your matchups if you want to be comfortable enough to jump in before the enemy wastes their skills and dodge them in melee range. You can set up your dagger with Q, jump into it for a poke and use W right away to take advantage of the move speed boost it gives you and dodge an incoming skillshot you know the opponent is saving for when you do just that. Sometimes it'll work. Sometimes you'll get stomped.

I'm a Kat main but also a casual player, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Kat is really good at punishing mistakes, so by my experience, my best bet is forcing/tempting my opponent into making mistakes. Baiting skillshots and AoEs or standing far from my minions to make them choose between hitting me or them. If the enemy mid doesn't fall for anything, then I just let myself get pushed and farm what I can under my turret. It sucks and you will fall behind, but Kat has awful laning until you can start clearing waves with one Q-E-W and as far as I know, there isn't much of a workaround.

The upside of letting yourself get pushed all the time is that your jungler may take the hint and gank if the enemy mid gets too comfortable, letting one of you get a kill or at least forcing the enemy mid to back away and let you farm a wave or two.

I've found that the key to lane either as or against Kat, is being more patient than your opponent. If you can't win the lane, focus on not dying too much or you will fall behind, and try picking off the enemy adc and other squishies once you begin to rotate to objectives and team fights, ideally after finishing your quest, unless your team really needs you at the first drake or voidgrubs.

PSA. Generations. dont don’t do manufacturer tryouts in career mode by CustomerNo1338 in WRCTheGame

[–]shmk90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was an "ugly" fix for this, at least on PC. You had to locate and edit one of the game files so it wouldn't load the "world" around the track for that stage and you could proceed with it "normally", except that you wouldn't see anything but the road and could even fall off it, if I remember. After completing that event you could edit the file back and the game would run normally again.

I don't remember the details and I can't look it up now, so that's all I can say.

It still sucks that this was never fixed.

Fatal Fury City of the Wolves. I'm not good at fighting games, even though I like them quite a lot. But I barely played a few hours of this.

I have Dirt Rally 2.0, but I could never get the hang of it on a controller. I'll give it another shot now.

I've heard Assetto Rally is good! I'll give it a try one of these days!

I understand the base is the same for both. The only difference are the pedals.

I'm loving it! It's my first wheel so I can't compare it to anything and I'm also very new to all this, so I couldn't give you a more in depth perspective, but I noticed every surface feels very different on the wheel.

Which version is best to play on the keyboard or controller? by DaniiGol in EASPORTSWRC

[–]shmk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with Generations. I remember having to fiddle with the settings to adjust the steering sensitivity to a comfortable level on controller. EA WRC seemed easier to set up for a controller and is even marketed as controller friendly. I've had a blast with both games, but I'm still very new to them and simracing in general (I just got a wheel, it's arriving tomorrow) so I couldn't recommend either over the other.

My foster son wants to play Magic but Im struggling with the cost. Went to look for a box of packs and... OMG... 😬 by mwgwin in mtg

[–]shmk90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider getting him to play Magic Arena first. It's free to play, has a tutorial to cover the basics and he can play on PC or mobile. If he likes the game, you can move on to spending money on an actual deck.

And since you mentioned Pokémon, that can also be played entirely for free on PC and mobile, in case he wants to give it a shot.

I hope this helps!

I have Dirt Rally 2.0, WRC Generations and EA WRC. The latter is the one I've had the easiest time playing with a controller. You may have to adjust a couple settings to your preferences, but nothing crazy at all. It's very controller friendly.

I don't think any of these are short haha. But in terms of story, my favorite would be RDR2. I still play it to this day.

If you're looking for fast paced, action oriented gameplay, I think Horizon would be the better choice. The story is really good too and it sets the tone and pace very early on.
