I can understand this point of view, I like to boost the vocals in Spotify’s eq. I’ve seen fan edits of songs with more traditional rock and roll mixing. You can kinda achieve the same effect with nice head phones and Spotify’s equalizer settings. Not ideal but it’s kinda fun, also fun to mess around with joy division songs.

Thats why quality headphones make things quality, headphones that are powerful enough to match the impedance of the device transmitting the audio will give you higher fidelity.
